Crafting

Hi, Hikers!

The first playtest was a harsh lesson for many of you. We saw you struggle with hunger, bleed out, and perish in the forest. You asked for a chance to fight back – and we’ve given you one. Now, survival in Deadhikers isn’t just about walking; it’s about being properly prepared.

Survival is in your hands

A “Craft” tab will appear in the player menu – your main ally. Now you won’t be helpless in the face of danger. But stay alert: nature doesn’t give up its resources easily. You’ll have to scavenge for ethanol, gather cloth in the ruins, and even take risks by picking poisonous flowers to create vital supplies.

More than just a first-aid kit We’re adding tactical depth to the injury system. There’s now a specific remedy for every threat: antidote, pills and a splint. They’ll help you overcome harsh conditions and heal everything from a food poisoning to a broken leg.

Camp Cooking We’ve revamped how the world reacts to your actions and what you eat. From now on, raw mushrooms are a gamble that usually ends in food poisoning. But once you find a fire, you can cook a fried mushroom – a safe and filling meal that will give you strength without any side effects.

Will you be prepared, or will you just become another pile of bones on the trail?

Gather resources, watch what you eat, and try to make it to the end.

Sometimes it is a torn tent, a river that lasts longer than your strength, or a cloud of insects that will not let you think. Here is what changed. Tents can now be repaired after they are destroyed. The camp is not lost – you can stretch the canvas back up and get the fire going again. Swim…Community26 Aug 2026Devs Diary #16Atmosphere Lies in the Details Hello, Hikers! One of the most important aspects of creating a believable and tense atmosphere comes down to something players might not even consciously notice – the sensations experienced when firing a weapon, reloading it, dressing a wound or eating tinned food. We've paid particular attention to the quality of the animations, striving to make every action as r…Community6 Aug 2026Devs Diary #15Hello, Hikers! The forest never sleeps. Whilst you're building a fire and counting the steps to the nearest shelter, something out there, amongst the trees, is changing too. It's becoming smarter. Hungrier. Here's the latest on the forest's inhabitants. BARKERS New type: Night Barkers As the sun sets, creatures previously unseen appear in the forest. Night Barkers are more resilient than their…
