Dev Blog 1: What You Build Stays Built

Hello, Spacemen!

Starting with this post, we're moving to a new format for our updates. Instead of dense patch notes, we'll be sharing smaller, more regular dev diaries - picking a couple of things we're working on and telling you the story behind them in more detail.

This time, we want to walk you through two things that shape what it actually means to live and work in the Verse universe.

🏗 Every Resource You Deliver Goes Somewhere Real

Verse starts at a very specific point in history - humanity has barely stabilized the Earth-Moon system. The infrastructure exists, but just barely. Everything beyond that doesn't, and none of it appears on its own.

Every resource you mine and deliver goes somewhere real. The system tracks exactly what's been contributed, and toward what. When enough has come in to push a construction goal forward, it moves forward. When it hasn't, it waits.

That means early players are laying literal groundwork. The first infrastructure milestones will carry the contributions of whoever was there when it happened, and we intend to make those marks permanent. Later players will have plenty to do, but they won't be able to do this

🌚 What the Kessler Belt Means for Everyday Life

The Kessler Belt isn't just the reason you can't freely land on Earth. It's one of the forces shaping daily life on Host Station.

Earth is still there. It still sends people, culture, electronics, biological goods, familiar comforts - but every shipment has to pass through a narrow, constantly maintained corridor cutting through a dangerous debris field. That changes what ordinary things are worth.

An Earth-grown product isn't necessarily rare where it came from. On Host Station, its price includes launch capacity, corridor maintenance, protected transport, insurance, and the risk that the next shipment gets delayed entirely. We want the economy to reflect that - goods should tell you where they came from and what it cost to get them here.

So here's a question for you: what Earth-side goods would feel meaningful to you as expensive orbital imports? Fresh food, medicine, physical media, luxury materials, or something you wouldn't expect?

If you're into this kind of behind-the-scenes look at how Verse is built, or just want project news more often than we post it here, our Discord, Reddit and Twitter are the places to be:
