It's Alive! The After the Silence Demo Is Live!

This week has been absolutely crazy. As it turns out, game optimization is a whole art form of its own, especially when you’re actually an animator and 3D modeler who once thought: “Well, how hard can making a game really be?” 😅

The visual side is doing great. In fact, the entire demo is only around 2 GB, which I’m honestly a little proud of. But code, logic, streaming, and performance turned out to be a whole different adventure. My lack of experience in those areas definitely showed.

Still, a huge amount of work has been done this week. I reworked a bunch of systems, rebuilt quite a few things, and seriously optimized the project. And the result turned out really well: around 17 ms per frame.

Of course, the work continues, so please keep sending your feedback! If you notice FPS drops, something breaks, or anything behaves strangely, definitely let me know. It genuinely helps make the game better.

A huge thank you to everyone following After the Silence, supporting the project, testing the demo, and leaving comments.

I hope everything goes well for you. Like, literally everything 😎

See you in the next updates! ❤️

Community11 Sep 2026Weekly Friday Update #10On my end - I snapped and redid the map. Yep. Again. But now I’m finally happy with the result and can live in peace. Probably. On my wife’s end - we watched a TV show. You might be wondering what that has to do with game development. Well… everything 😂 While we were watching, she came up with a new idea for how the player will send reports to their employer . No spoilers for now, because we w…In-game event4 Sep 2026Weekly Friday Update #9Greetings, traveler :) It’s time for another small weekly After the Silence update. This week, I’ve mostly been working on making the demo feel more complete and cohesive. And the biggest change is already available in the game: The demo now has a proper little ending. Of course, I’m not going to tell you what exactly happens or how to get there . It’s much more fun to discover it on your own.…In-game event29 Aug 2026Weekly Friday Update #8First of all, there are already more than 200 of us! And that’s just insanely cool. Mind-blowing, honestly. I still don’t really understand how this is happening, but somehow it is 😄 Thank you to everyone who downloaded the demo, wishlisted the game, left a comment, or is simply following the development ❤️ Second - I’ve finally started working on setting up a Mac build as well, because, well……
