The Final Roadmap Update

Overview

So here we are, on the raggedy edge. This is the final countdown. Where we're going, we don't need roads. Gunlocked 2 is entering its final phase of development, but there's still a lot to come.

So what's left, and when will it happen?

As of right now, I've divided my internal roadmap into 4 major milestones. I may release updates in smaller pieces, especially on the test branches, as content is finished. As of right now, the roadmap looks like this.

The Outline

  1. The Fleet Update (v 0.70.00): Adds a selection of alternate ships to unlock and use, each with their own unique features and stats.

  2. The Arsenal Update (v0.80.00): Adds a bunch of new weapons and symbionics, some backer utilities, and finishes up the augments. This update also includes the final base pilot.

  3. The Boss Update (v0.90.00): Adds the final 4 boss fights: The Super Mantis, Grand Goliath, Prime Parasite, and Army Ant.

  4. The Launch Update (v.1.00.00): Adds the remaining backer content. It includes alternate pilots, custom NPC portraits, and a finished codex. Other content includes new enemies, elite zones, and achievements (including custom backer achievements).

QA

What are alternate pilots?

  • Alternate pilots will double the current offering, but they aren't entirely unique. Each will have a classic counterpart, sharing the same starter weapon and mastery. But they'll have a unique skill that gives them a slightly different play style, and of course their own backer-inspired portrait.

When will 1.0 release?

  • I believe I'll have all or most of the content implemented by the end of February. I've had to take on some extra freelance work, that could slow me down a bit, but I don't expect by much.

Will there be DLC

  • As I've mentioned before, I have no plans for DLC. My goal has been to add everything in the base game that I can afford. So outside of bug fixes and maybe a little extra polish, there won't be any major updates beyond 1.0

What will the final price be?

  • As mentioned in the Early Access info in the store, the price will be going up now that there's a ton of extra content (and still more to come). I'll be raising the price next week from $9.99 to $11.99. This will be its final launch price.

Final thoughts...

And there you have it. A brief tease of everything to come. Many of you have already played for dozens or hundreds of hours, so hopefully there's enough new stuff to extend your time with Gunlocked 2 a little longer.

Could I possibly dream up more for Gunlocked 2? Maybe. I had some ambitious ideas to explore if the game's sales were significantly better, including alternate ways to play the game entirely, but even then I don't know if they would have been a good fit.

As for the core game, I think I've got everything in that I could hope for (or will by 1.0). It's just a matter of whether you connect with it. Everyone has their own idea of what this sequel should be, but hopefully enough of you enjoy what it is.

Thanks for all the feedback along the way!

Community4 Sep 2026Developer UpdateAn Overdue Greeting Long time no chat. I've been keeping my head down since the 1.0 launch of Gunlocked 2, staying busy with work, but it's time to reemerge and talk about the state of things now and to come! Most importantly, a memory leak related to the Shock Bomb weapon. This issue could be quickly exacerbated by the new power scaling in the 1.0 update. Bombs are a slow-to-start build that can become really powerful, and as such, not a lot of players previously tried those builds out prior to 1.0. If you have issues with slowdown, especially late i…
