I am pleased to present Patch 0.11, arriving on schedule as our roadmap to Early Access. This update introduces historical narratives from 400 A.D. to 476 A.D., a new Barbarian Raid mechanic, and unique provincial flavor content for Aquitania, Belgica, and Narbonensis, including new spirits, missions, and events. All three provinces are now playable on demo build!

During this time period, the Western Empire was entering its final age: frontiers buckled under the pressure of migrating peoples, armies struggled to defend an immense territory, and imperial authority steadily slipped from Rome's grasp.
This patch brings that turbulent era to life through a new series of historical narratives and the Barbarian Raids mechanic. Between 400 and 476 A.D., historical events can establish the Suebi, Visigoths, Vandals, Burgundians, Huns, Franks, Saxons, Alemanni, and Ostrogoths. These peoples seize tiles from existing provinces and found polities of their own, reshaping the political map as the West fragments.
For their first 20 years, newly formed barbarian polities receive bonus War Power and can launch a raid each year. Raids are special wars that last for one year, reducing the target province's Land Tax, Tile Output, and Stability for their duration. A targeted province can end a raid immediately by paying a ransom in Gold or spending Infiltration to subvert it. Other provinces can also intervene: inciting a raid makes it more devastating, while deterring one reduces the raider's War Power.

Once those first 20 years have passed, the polity loses its special War Power bonus and will no longer launch raids. From then on, it behaves like any other province.
The narrative culminates in 476 A.D. with the fall of the Western Roman Empire. The event An Empire Ends in Silence unlocks the choice to pursue Our Own Destiny, granting a lump sum of Consul Points at the cost of permanently withdrawing from Senate elections.
Stretching from the Atlantic coast to the Pyrenees, Aquitania was a land of fertile river valleys, prosperous vineyards, and wealthy rural estates. Burdigala stood at the heart of its commerce and learning, while the province's hills and mountain approaches formed a natural bastion in southwestern Gaul.
Aquitania receives three new Provincial Spirits inspired by this landscape and history. Serene Vineyards rewards a stable realm, Cultivated Estates turns development into greater tax income, and Hillfort Bastion makes the province's rugged core a source of defensive strength.
Aquitania's new mission chain begins with an alliance across the Loire, then turns south toward a Mediterranean port and the conquest of Narbonensis. From there, an ambitious ruler can cross the Pyrenees and begin a wider expansion into Iberia.
Belgica guarded the northeastern approaches to Gaul, from the Channel coast to the Rhine frontier. Its roads, granaries, and fortified cities sustained Rome's northern armies, while Augusta Treverorum grew into an imperial residence. It was a wealthy borderland, but one perpetually shaped by military pressure from beyond the Rhine.
Belgica's three new Provincial Spirits reflect its martial traditions and frontier role. Ranged Predominance rewards armies built around ranged troops, Bravest of the Gauls develops victorious generals, and Martial Society converts greater conscription into greater War Power.
Belgica's missions embrace an outward-looking military strategy. Drive south into Lugdunensis, advance across the Rhine into Germania, establish a route across the Channel to Britannia, and ultimately prove that Belgica has become a great power in its own right.
Narbonensis linked Italia, Iberia, and the rest of Gaul along the Mediterranean coast. Ancient ports such as Narbo and Massilia, together with the Via Domitia and the Rhône corridor, made it one of the West's great commercial crossroads and among the most deeply Romanized regions beyond Italia.
Narbonensis gains three Provincial Spirits drawn from its privileged cities, busy harbors, and far-reaching commercial ties. Municipal Privilege expands construction in core territories, Maritime Prosperity enriches harbor trade, and Commercial Alliances turns diplomacy into additional Trade Capacity.
Narbonensis's missions make use of its position at the crossroads of the Western Empire. Cultivate alliances with Italia and Aquitania, invest the wealth of Narbo, draw Corsica into your sphere through marriage and diplomacy, and negotiate an Alpine exchange to secure a more favorable frontier.

Many of Restitutor's events are inspired by real history. Many of these events can be obscure - now historical events now include a direct link to a relevant Wikipedia article. If you are interested in an event, you can quickly learn more about what happened, the people involved, and the wider historical context behind its depiction in the game.

That's all for this patch notes. Patch 0.11 should be backward compatible with older saves. If you encounter any problems or have feedback, join our Discord server!
