Performance, Stability & Interface Improvements
This update focuses on city rendering, ship navigation, performance, and interface improvements.
City Rendering
- Fixed an issue that could cause terrain, grass, trees, and other environmental objects to disappear in city scenes.
- Improved terrain loading reliability across all cities, including Rostock, Hamburg, and Danzig.
- Fixed pink or incompatible materials appearing on some workplaces in Rostock.
Ship Navigation
- Removed the problematic spline-based ship movement system.
- Fixed ships occasionally turning in circles after receiving a destination command.
- Improved world-map departure, arrival, and route movement behaviour.
- Reduced unnecessary processing for ships waiting in harbours.
Performance and Stability
- Reduced unnecessary per-frame UI and building updates.
- Optimized UI lighting and graphics target detection.
- Reduced allocations caused by repeated physics and renderer searches.
- Improved ship counter and route-service performance.
- Moved autosave file writing to a background thread to reduce gameplay interruptions.
- Autosaves now use safer atomic file replacement to protect existing save files.
- Improved HUD scaling and dynamic mesh performance.
Graphics Settings
- Reduced freezing when switching between graphics quality presets.
- Added a busy cursor while graphics settings are being applied.
- Improved runtime material compatibility when changing quality settings.
Interface Improvements
- Added an information button next to the selected hometown.
- Rostock is now marked as an unfinished city.
- Other selectable cities now indicate that a rework is planned.
- Improved the hometown selection layout and spacing.
Additional Fixes
- Improved runtime caching throughout the interface.
- Split several large systems into smaller partial classes for easier maintenance.
- Various minor stability and code-quality improvements.
