We have some exciting news.
Underkeep is now playable from beginning to end.
The only bad news?
For now, only we get to play it.
Every major area, dungeon, and story chapter is now in place. While plenty of polishing remains, the entire adventure can finally be played from start to finish.
That also means internal beta testing has officially begun.
We spend our days doing things that are far less exciting... but absolutely necessary.
Finding bugs.
Fixing bugs.
Creating new bugs while fixing the old ones.
Along the way we're also balancing combat, adjusting encounters, fixing typos... and occasionally throwing fish at monsters.
There is still plenty of work ahead.
finishing the intro and ending sequences
completing the remaining environmental assets
writing the last remaining dialogues
balancing all difficulty settings
Steam achievements
Localizations
lots and lots of polishing
Most of our work now consists of dozens of small improvements. They may seem invisible, but together they're what turns a game from "finished" into "ready."
Feature development is officially over. Not because we ran out of ideas, quite the opposite.
Our design document still contains well over one hundred ideas we'd love to build.
But every game reaches a point where it has to stop growing. Otherwise it never gets finished.
Many of those ideas may still appear in future updates.
And who knows...
Maybe some will find their way into a sequel one day.
We currently plan to launch with:
English
Czech
German
Russian
Polish
French
Please note that this is our current plan rather than a final promise. Some languages may change depending on translation progress and available resources.
Additional languages may follow after release depending on community support.
As with our previous games, we'd love to build these translations together with the community.
Underkeep contains a huge amount of text, so we'll almost certainly need more volunteers.
We'll share details in a dedicated update soon.
This is still the question we receive most often.
Unfortunately, we don't have a release date to announce yet.
We're currently deciding whether 2026 is still the right time to launch.
Releasing a game isn't just about finishing development.
A good launch also needs time for marketing, press, content creators, and everything that happens before release.
These are discussions we're actively having, and we haven't made a final decision yet.
Our priority is to release Underkeep when both the game and its launch are truly ready, rather than rushing either one.
The finish line is finally in sight. Thank you for sticking with us.
And our final question this time -- Would you rather wait longer for a polished release, or play earlier even if it means bugs and missing features?
