Hi,

Before the patch notes, I have some exciting news to share: Restitutor will launch in Early Access on September 8, 2026, priced at $5.99 / €5.99 / CN¥26.00. A 20% launch discount will be available for the first two weeks. It will also join the "Presented By Fish Pond Collection," where owners of my other games can receive an additional 20% discount.

Restitutor has now been in development for more than a year and in playtesting for over six months. At the Early Access launch, its historical narrative will span 192 A.D. to 476 A.D., and most provinces of the Western Roman Empire will be playable, each with unique narrative events, missions, and Provincial Spirits.

After the Early Access launch, I will turn east, adding unique provincial content for the Eastern Empire and extending the historical narrative beyond 476 A.D.

I am also pleased to present Patch 0.13, bringing Restitutor into the heart of the western Empire with two new playable provinces: Italia and Sicilia. Each has its own historical narrative, missions, and Provincial Spirits, while three shared Mediterranean missions reward expansion into Africa, Gaul, and Hispania. This update also expands the Tech Tree with new cultural, religious, and military technologies. Italia and Sicilia are now available for free in the demo, replacing some of the provinces previously featured in the rotation.

Two New Playable Provinces

Italia and Sicilia are now available for new runs and Rebirth. Italia begins at the political and symbolic center of the Roman world, balancing the authority of the Senate, the command of the legions, and the prestige of Rome itself. Sicilia begins at the crossroads of the central Mediterranean, where fertile estates, exposed coastlines, and control of the sea shape every path to power.

Italia: Heart of the Roman World

Italia receives ten historical events following the Secular Games of Septimius Severus, the Baths of Caracalla, the Aurelian Walls, the Senate's last emperor, the rise of Mediolanum as an imperial residence, the Arch of Constantine, the Altar of Victory, the court's withdrawal to Ravenna, the marriage of Galla Placidia and Constantius, and the murder of Aetius.

Its six missions reward the reunification of Italia and Sicilia, the peaceful clientage of Corsica and Sardinia, expansion through the Alpine passes, control of the Adriatic approaches, and mastery of the Mediterranean coast. A united Italia can choose whether to advance into Narbonensis, Raetia, or Noricum, while an alliance with Macedonia can open a campaign against Dalmatia.

Italia has four Provincial Spirits:

  • Senatorial Authority - Gain +1 Consul Point after each Consul Election.
  • Inclusive Citizenship - Gain +1 Tolerated Culture slot.
  • Caput Mundi - Gain +10% Prestige while Rome is the provincial capital.
  • Experienced Command - Gain +2% War Power for each General Skill Level across Infantry, Ranged, and Cavalry.

Sicilia: Crossroads of the Mediterranean

Sicilia receives ten historical events centered on the island's grain trade, Saint Agatha and the eruption of Etna, the Villa Romana del Casale, the Council of Arles, the earthquake and tsunami of 365 A.D., the Gildonic revolt, Vandal attacks on Panormus, the recalled eastern fleet of 441 A.D., the failed Cape Bon expedition, and the peace with Geiseric.

Its five missions turn Sicilia toward the Italian mainland and the islands and shores around it. Securing southern Italia opens the way to Rome, while a strong and well-connected Sicilia can receive weakened Sardinia, Corsica, or Africa as clients through treaties and marriage alliances.

  • Mediterranean Ambition - Reduce required War Score by 20% when declaring war against a province within 10 Diplomatic Distance.
  • Bountiful Coastlines - Core coastal tiles gain +10% Manpower, Land Tax, and Tile Output for each coastal edge.
  • Coastal Administration - Core coastal tiles receive -20% Governing Cost.

Mediterranean Missions

Three new regional missions are available to Italia and Sicilia. Establishing footholds in Africa, Narbonensis, and Tarraconensis now grants choices suited to the direction of the campaign.

  • An African Bridgehead - Develop African estates, establish a second center of government, or fortify the conquered shore.
  • A Foothold in Narbonensis - Tax the new province, welcome its notables, or reward the conquering commanders.
  • Gateway to Hispania - Prepare for further conquest, reconcile local communities, or proclaim a western triumph.

Tech Tree Expansion

The Tech Tree now extends to a new final tier with three technologies:

  • Cultural Policy - Gain +1 Tolerated Culture slot and +100 Governing Capacity.
  • Religious Policy - Gain +1 Tolerated Religion slot and +10% Prestige.
  • Ranged Doctrine - Gain +1 Ranged Unit Power and +10% War Power.

Curial Reform now grants a Tolerated Culture slot. Its former Building Slot reward and the tree's Governing Capacity bonuses have been redistributed through Urban Planning and Land Surveying. Several techs have also been renamed, including Social Policy, Sacred Offices, Trade Networks, Civic Assembly, Fortifications, Legal Code, Envoy Missions, Craft Workshops, Army Intel, and Army Logistics.

Other Changes

  • Province names on the world map now seek wider, more central interior space, reducing labels placed against borders or across narrow parts of a province.
  • Tolerated Culture and Tolerated Religion selection lists are now sorted alphabetically and scroll when the list is too long for the interface.
  • Legacy Points now transfer correctly to the selected province when using Rebirth to begin a run as a different province.
  • Client-offer events now require the target province to be at peace and not already under the player's patronage, preventing invalid or repeated client events.

Cheers,
FishPond
