Soul Savior - Alpha v0.0.4 Update
A new Alpha update is now available!
This patch focuses on improving the experience for new players, increasing replayability, polishing the gameplay, and adding several quality-of-life improvements.
📖 New Tutorial
A brand-new tutorial has been added to help players understand the game's core mechanics.
It covers:
- Core gameplay
- Spells
- Souls and progression
Whether you're playing for the first time or returning after a while, getting started should now feel much smoother.
🎲 Increased Replayability
Enemy waves are no longer identical from one run to another!
Enemy types and quantities are now generated using a weighted system based on your run's Seed.
Instead of always encountering the same enemies during the same waves, each run can now surprise you with different enemy compositions, making every playthrough feel more unique.
🎮 Gameplay Improvements
- The 2x Speed button has been replaced with 3x Speed.
- The old 4x Speed button has been replaced with Skip Preparation Phase (available only during the Preparation Phase).
- Trap shortcuts are now displayed directly on the HUD, along with the quantity available.
- Greatly improved aiming and placement for movement, traps, and AOE spells, especially in tight corridors.
- Mana costs are now displayed in every spell description.
✨ UI & Visual Improvements
- Added a warning message when your Treasure is under attack.
- Added HP and Mana values directly to the player's bars.
- Updated the graphics preset preview images in the Options menu.
- Loading screen images are now displayed in much higher quality.
- The game logo is now displayed while running the Graphics Auto Configuration.
👀 Better Visibility
Important gameplay elements can now be seen through walls using a subtle outline.
- Player
- Monsters
- Merchant
- Traps
Trap outlines are only visible during the Preparation Phase to help with planning, and are automatically hidden during combat to reduce visual clutter.
🛠️ Quality of Life & Bug Fixes
- Codex pickup animations have been slowed down, giving players more time to read them.
- Increased the size of the Seed input buttons for easier navigation.
- Fixed a bug where rescued villagers could continue following the player after dying.
