This update adds many quality of life improvements, some balance adjustments, and a few bug fixes. Thanks to everyone who submitted bug reports and suggestions!
As always, all applicable changes are also in the demo.
Balance Changes
- Survey preparation inspiration and yield effects: 30% -> 50%.
- Charcoal Rod: restored inspiration amount: 2 -> 1.
- Stone Heart: blocked inspiration loss amount: 3 -> 2.
- Mended Teacup: maximum inspiration gain limit: 7 -> 5.
- Empty Lantern Frame: no longer unique.
- Crane Companion: 2nd slot Universal -> Connection; additional slots remain universal.
- Nopperabō haunting: essences per phase: None -> Radiance.
- First Dragon Companion event: required essences: 2 -> 1.
Quality of Life Improvements
- Added special event choices that let you replace harmful relics (dead branch, golden persimmon, leaky inkstick) with powerful ones.
- Added special choices in monastery events based on the four talisman relics.
- Added the ability to limit the effect of the Lock invocation to only the current turn.
- Added stroke info to the glyph info dialog and to the inscription panel, even for already inscribed glyphs.
- Added a minimize button to the relic selection UI.
- Added a couple dozen new Haven NPC lines.
- Added links for settler quests in the museum.
- Adjusted the relics bar to display relics which can no longer trigger during the current turn differently.
- Reworked the Starter Bead relic to add a copy of the first played glyph instead of blocking its discard. This is equivalent in most cases, but avoids some dodgy relic interactions.
- Clarified the wording of several relics and event outcomes.
- Clarified the requirements for several quest and shard cultures.
- Clarified several error messages when attempting to slot glyphs in invalid ways.
- Slightly adjusted many relic icons for style consistency.
- Improved survey encounter choice tooltips.
- Added a small primer about Japanese writing systems to the kanji practice minigame.
- Improved kanji practice minigame tooltips.
- Improved savegame portability between different systems (Windows/Linux/Apple Mac/Intel Mac).
- Slightly simplified the starting tutorial.
- Made the Packed In skill available slightly earlier.
- Switched the Japanese shard name display at the end of the expedition to the calligraphic font.
- Made the survey text auto-scroll stop if the player scrolls manually.
Bug Fixes
- Fixed clicks on UI elements like the quests list also counting as map click during foray/survey selection.
- Fixed the Enter key being able to activate normally inaccessible buttons.
- Fixed the first survey choice being cut off when using zoom-on-hover.
- Fixed an issue with the inspiration bar flickering on some older systems.
- Fixed the optional Pause Menu button acting exactly like Escape (i.e. also closing modal dialogs).
