Greetings

Hello, everyone!
I am Jung Hwan Hwang – the level designer behind LaserZone.
I’m speaking on behalf of our team and our director since I am the only person who can write in English.

What We've Been Up to

As you guessed, LaserZone has been finally released! Our team is excited and extremely happy at the moment.
It took more than 3 years to release our game, and there had been tough problems lurking around the corners. The first two years were slow-going since we lacked manpower. In addition, there were conflicts between crew members, COVID-19 prevented offline meetings, and our rating got rejected once. A handful of reasons delayed the release, and it hit our team’s morale even though no one said anything about it.

However, our director aims to complete any product no matter what. His tenacity gave us the motivation to stay cool and deliver a polished game to the market.
7 months have passed since the initial release date. However, having tested our game 7 months before and now, I’m glad we didn’t rush our release.

Q&A

In the last news, we promised you to give extra information about the game on the release date.
We would like to clear out some of the questions you got by preparing a Q&A. I wrote down 4 answers for 4 corresponding questions.
This section excludes any information that is already on the Store Page.

Q. How much content is in the game? How long is the playtime?

A. There are a total of 160 maps available, split into 6 Chapters.
132 maps are designed to deliver the puzzle-solving experience. 39 maps out of the 132 serve as tutorials. They teach you how to use, exploit, and combine newly introduced game mechanics.
On the other hand, you can take a rest in the other 28 maps. They offer free resources for upgrades and often include cinematic events for advancing the story.
Based on the FGT reports we’ve collected, it will approximately take 7~9 hours to finish the game. But please note that playtime may vary between players.

Q. How difficult is the game?

A. Our game targets casual-to-mid core players.
Based on a scale of 1 to 10, the average difficulty for Chapters starts at 2, and gradually increases up to 6.
However, there are some difficulty spikes to keep good players interested. Some maps require faster reflexes than others too.
But after you overcome them, difficulty settles down for a short time.
You can easily complete Chapters 1 and 2, but you will need to start paying some attention from there.

Q. Please tell us about Configuration options.

A. LaserZone supports resolution options up to 2560x1440(QHD) and custom key-bindings. Controller support is NOT in the game. Texture options are NOT provided because the game does not require high-end PCs, and CPU is more important than GPU (for playing this game).

Q. Will there be any future support from the development team?
A. We are planning to add Steam Achievements. We will attempt to fix any unexpected bugs by receiving reports from players on the Steam Forum too.
But please note that the official release version for LaserZone is meant to be a complete experience, a finished product.
While we don’t have any concrete plans at the moment, we will consider adding new features and content if a suggestion receives a certain degree of popularity.
