MMR system
Glicko-2 algorithm (variant of ELO but more suitable for 1v1 competitive games like chess)
One public MMR rating
One hidden Rating Deviation (RD) value
Used to determine the confidence in a player’s MMR and for calibration ex. first game? in placement? on a win streak?
One hidden Volatility value
Used to gauge how consistent a player’s performance is and inform the RD value ex. did the Bronze win against the Diamond player? If so, was it a fluke or a disconnect? If they do it again, raise their MMR bonus.
Placement/calibration
5 placement matches to receive an MMR
Bracketed leagues
Bronze>Silver>Gold>Diamond>Master
No divisions within a bracket
Ranked search window
0-15s +-100 MMR > 15-30s +-200 MMR > 30-60s +-350 MMR > 60s+ +-600 MMR (cap)
Anti-abuse detection
Smurfing, intentional losing, dodge penalty, avoid repeat players, demotion protection…
Ranked progression in the demo will carry forward into launch. A launch date will be announced soon! Cheers,
