0.9.20: battles read properly now

Warpack Demo · published

Warpack is an auto-battler: you build an army in a shop, position it on a grid,
and it fights on its own against armies other players built. The demo is free on the
store page, two factions, about ten minutes a run.

One steady pace

Battles used to speed up the longer they ran, so the busiest part of a fight was
shown fastest. We counted it: you have to read about four times as much per second
in round fourteen as in round one, and the game was accelerating into that.

The ramp is gone. One pace from start to finish, and units march in a little slower
so the lines meet with room to follow what happens.

Also in this one

  • Arrows land IN what they hit instead of blinking out on arrival
  • The fight log no longer stops early, so a fight's last kills are listed
  • A unit mustered "born bearing HOLY" can pass that trait on when you feed it
  • Hovering a unit you already own says how much rarer it is in the shop
  • A benched unit's tooltip shows what it has swallowed
  • A body raised as more than a plain skeleton is drawn bigger
  • Deaths with no killer say what killed them, so a unit falls to poison
  • Replays stay on the arena the fight was fought on
