Hello, Steam! Traffic Architect has arrived 🚦

We just passed Steam's review and the store page you're looking at is officially live — this is the very first post in what will become a long devlog series.

What is Traffic Architect?

A traffic management city builder: the city grows on its own, and your job is the network — roads, junctions, and now entire transit systems — that keeps it moving. Let traffic back up, and it's game over.

The game started as a small web release and grew through thousands of player suggestions and bug reports into what you see on this page. The Steam version is its biggest leap yet: public transport (buses, passenger & freight rail, underground metro), highways and multi-level interchanges, traffic regulation tools, maps up to 18×18 km, a map editor with Steam Workshop support, and much more — the full list is right below on the store page.

A little exclusive for reading this far

Here's a shot that isn't on the store page yet:

One frame, most of the new stuff: a highway diving into a tunnel, a passenger train crossing over the interchange, and the traffic lights below trying to cope with the queues. Yes, those jams are your problem to solve.

What's next

Regular devlogs right here: feature deep-dives, development stories and release news. Next post will take a proper look at how public transport works under the hood.

Community8 Sep 2026Where the traffic comes from: how the city growsEvery article so far has been about carrying traffic — interchanges, then buses, trains and metro. This one is about where the traffic comes from. In Traffic Architect you don't need to worry about building the city: it grows on its own, and every building it grows is a machine that makes cars. This is how that machine works, and what it looks like now. The city grows on a clock A new plot open…Community24 Aug 2026Buses, trains and metro — taking cars off the roads you builtTraffic Architect is a traffic game first. You build the roads, the junctions and the interchanges; the city grows along them and fills them with cars. Public transport is how you take that load back off — and it's the part of the game nobody has seen yet. A bus line is a loop Pick a hub, add stops, and buses start running the loop. A line is a hub building plus an ordered list of stops, and th…Community10 Aug 2026Feature spotlight #1: Highways & interchanges - when more lanes aren't enoughEvery city in Traffic Architect hits this moment: a crossroad that used to work fine is now a parking lot. You've upgraded the roads, tuned the lights, and it's still red. The problem isn't the road anymore - it's the intersection. A signalized junction serves one direction at a time, and cars won't even enter it unless there's space on the other side ("don't block the box" is a hard rule in th…
