Relaunch Patch Notes — Build v0.1.0

Gloomsday · published 19 Jul 2026, 20:46 UTC · build 24279211

All newsPlayers around this dateRead on Steam

These notes detail the game as a whole rather than a patch. The last public build predates most of the game, so future patch notes will list changes against this one.

Run Structure

  • One region, procedurally reassembled every run from handcrafted rooms along a paced route. "Encounter" rooms seal their exits on entry and reopen on clear.

  • The boss door stays sealed until you hold enough "keystones", obtained from encounters.

  • Environmental hazards: spikes, acid.

  • Runs take about 20 minutes; the build holds about 3–5 hours of content today.

The Boss

  • Multi-phase fight

  • Talks before, during, and after combat.

  • Conversations change with every win and every loss. Win multiple times to progress the story.

Environmental Mana

  • Mana is a world-space grid, not a resource bar. Casting drains a region around you.

  • Drained cells recover gradually.

  • Cast power is proportional to the mana drained, including damage, recoil, and knockback. Casting in drained areas produces weak spells or nothing.

  • Enemy casters draw from the same mana grid. Drained areas affect them too.

  • The HUD mana orb indicates the field at your position.

Fourteen Spell Abilities

  • Charge casts drain mana while held and fire on release or at full charge. A double jump refunds partial charge mid-cast.

  • Every spell also has a passive enchantment half (e.g. Ghostflame's Flame Shield, Teleport's Blink).

  • 4 active slots + 8 enchantment slots. A spell in an active slot gives you its cast. In an enchantment slot it gives you its passive instead.

  • The practice range lets you edit the full loadout freely.

  • Some spells are negatable and can cancel opposing spells on contact.

In-Run Progression

  • Spell scrolls spawn in pairs. Pick one, and place it into an active spell slot or passive enchantment slot.

  • Spell shop

  • Glyph shop: rolled offers from 48 glyphs — 16 effects across three tiers (Glyph / Greater / Supreme).

  • Pact shop: one-time max-health purchases

Currencies

  • Gloom — drops in-run, banks to your profile when the run ends. Victory or death, it counts.

  • Mana Nodes — in-run currency for the three run shops. Does not leave the run with you.

  • Keystones — one per cleared encounter; they open the boss door.

Combat

  • Attacks give damage-number feedback.

  • Damage reduction, heal boost, and other buffs

  • Spell and glyph properties include damage over time, knockback, caster recoil, homing, ricochet, and projectile acceleration

  • Healing past max health grants overhealth, shown on the health bar.

Movement

  • Base kit: run, jump, double jump, crawl

  • Grand Hall unlocks (Gloom): floor slide, wall slide, wall jump.

The Grand Hall

  • Two meta shops: Movement (abilities above) and Armor (four purchasable max-health tiers)

  • 3 save slots, each with independent unlocks, stats, and story state.

Practice Arena

  • Every castable spell, every movement ability, one of each enemy, live loadout editing.

  • Optional enemy spawner.

  • The free demo is this arena.

Enemies

  • Four families in the region — wisps, lurkers, totems, keepers — plus the boss.

  • Caster enemies obey the mana field.

  • Enemies, the boss, and the occasional sign emit ambient dialogue.

Interface

  • HUD: health bar with overhealth, boss health bar, mana orb, 4 spell slots, Keystone counter, Gloom and Node balances, run stopwatch, targeting reticle

  • Menus: pause (continue / restart / inventory / options / main menu / quit), inventory on Tab, end-of-run stats, save slot manager, settings, controls reference, credits.

Audio

  • Music switches states entering and leaving combat.

  • Spell audio sometimes depends on cast power.

Settings, Platforms, Performance

  • Settings: fullscreen / windowed / borderless, VSync, FPS cap, master / music / SFX volume, mute.

  • Platforms: Windows, macOS (Intel + Apple Silicon), Linux. 64-bit only, Vulkan (Metal on macOS), .NET runtime bundled.

  • Internal render at 640x360, integer-crisp, scaled to any window. Physics at 144 ticks/second.

  • Install size roughly 200–375 MB depending on platform.

  • Full keyboard + mouse support. Controller buttons are mapped; see known issues.

Known Issues

  • Controller: all actions are bound, but currently untested.

  • Balance: numbers will move frequently

  • There are several bug reports on our Discord already.

Updates every 2–4 weeks. Patch notes post here and in the Discord.
