Hi farmers, 😄
Thank you for continuing to play Farm Factory Simulator during Early Access.
We would also like to thank everyone who has shared feedback, suggestions, and bug reports through the Steam Discussions and the in-game Bug Report / Feedback feature.
Your feedback continues to help us review which parts of the game need clearer information, better controls, smoother automation behavior, more flexible factory layouts, or improved quality-of-life support.
In this update, we focused on expanding factory layout options with Double Stack Machines, adding a new Drone Picker Machine, improving Drop Area management, reworking control settings, making Supply Crane behavior clearer, and adding several UI, gamepad, placement, and visual improvements.
Here is what is included in this update.
The Double Stack Machine family is now available.
These Machines work on two separate decks at the same time: Upper and Lower.
Each deck has its own item flow, so one Machine footprint can support two different conveyor routes or production flows without mixing the items between decks.
The Double Stack Machine family includes:
Double Stack Conveyor 1x1
Double Stack Filter A
Double Stack Filter B
Double Stack Filter C
Double Stack Rotary
Double Stack Merge
Double Stack Junction
This gives players more options when building compact or layered factory layouts, especially in areas where space is limited.
For Machines with settings on each deck, the Upper and Lower deck settings are handled separately. This makes it possible to configure different outputs or filtering behavior on each deck.
Machine monitors and labels have also been adjusted so players can better understand which deck they are looking at.
Additional elevated conveyor-related Machines have also received updated catalog information and are now easier to understand in the Machine shop.
A new Drone Picker Machine has been added.
Drone Picker is designed to support Drone Delivery Station orders by feeding items through conveyors.
This Machine is useful when the required items are stored outside the reach of the Drone Delivery Station’s own Supply Arm. With Drone Picker, players can create a wider delivery supply setup using Storage and conveyor routing.
Drone Picker reads the delivery needs of the station it supports and helps supply the required items.
The displayed order information is split into clearer values, such as how many items are needed, how many are already on the way, and how many are still remaining.
This helps players understand whether the Drone Picker is still working, waiting for an order, or covered by other suppliers.
Multiple suppliers can also support the same delivery order more safely, reducing the chance of unnecessary over-supply.
Please note that Drone Picker is a new Machine. The existing Picker Machine A and Picker Machine B keep their existing behavior.
Supply Drop Area and Item Drop Area can now be purchased.
This means players can have more than one Drop Area of each type and choose where purchased items should be delivered during checkout.
Drop Areas can also be renamed.
Custom Drop Area names will appear in several places, including the world label, Daily Supplies title, and checkout destination dropdown. This should make it easier to manage multiple Drop Areas in larger factories.
The last Drop Area of each type cannot be packed, so deliveries will always have a valid destination.
When a Drop Area is packed, boxes placed on it will be released safely first, so the area can be managed without deleting the boxes on top of it.
This update should make shopping, delivery placement, and factory organization more flexible.
Control settings have received a major rework.
Movement directions can now be rebound more clearly, with each direction handled as its own setting instead of being grouped in a way that could cause confusing behavior.
The settings panel now shows button glyphs more consistently, using the same style of input icons shown in gameplay prompts.
Duplicate input binding handling has also been improved. If a button is already used by another action, the game will now provide clearer options before applying the change.
The Apply button also checks for required actions that do not have a binding and will show a message if something needs to be fixed first.
Several control labels have also been updated to better describe what each action actually does in the game.
Please note that arrow key movement is no longer applied automatically by default in this updated keybinding system. Players who previously used the arrow keys for movement may need to manually assign the arrow keys again to the player movement directions in the Key Bindings panel.
These changes should make keyboard and gamepad control customization easier to understand and safer to use.
Supply Crane behavior is now explained more clearly in the game.
Several Supply Crane rules that were previously hidden are now shown in the interface, including the conditions for when a crane starts refilling Store Racks and when a Storage source is considered valid.
These explanations can be seen in Supply Crane settings, the help guide, and Supply Crane Control.
A new option has also been added:
Fill shelves to full outside opening hours
When this option is enabled, the Supply Crane can keep filling shelves more fully while the store is outside opening hours, such as before the shop opens or after the day ends.
This should help players prepare Store Racks before customers arrive and make Supply Crane behavior easier to understand.
Machine Management and Storage Management have received new filtering options.
In Machine Management, players can now filter Machines by level. This makes it easier to find Machines at a specific upgrade level, especially when planning upgrades or reviewing lower-level Machines.
Sorting and filtering controls have also been reorganized into a clearer sidebar layout.
In Storage Management, players can now filter by commodity group, such as Seed, Livestock, Produce, Processed, Nutrient, and Waste.
These filters should make both management panels easier to use as the factory grows and the number of Machines or stored items increases.
Several Machine settings popups have been improved.
For Filter Machines, output settings are now presented as separate output cards instead of relying on a tab-like selection that could be harder to read.
For Picker Machines, mode selection has been changed into a dropdown, and the selected item display has been improved.
Selected item lists can now be scrolled, making it easier to review longer selections.
Some copy settings behavior has also been improved, including support for copying excess ingredient behavior between compatible processing Machines.
These changes should make Machine settings easier to read, navigate, and configure.
Box Storage has received several usability improvements.
Box Storage can now be renamed using the same naming flow used by Machines and Drop Areas.
Players can also hold the interaction button to take all boxes from a slot more quickly, instead of taking them one by one.
The information boards on Box Storage slots have also been improved so the displayed information is updated more reliably.
These changes should make Box Storage easier to organize and use in larger factories.
The confirmation warning for storing Machine boxes in Box Storage has been improved.
When a Machine box is stored, its custom name and saved settings are removed, while its Machine level is kept.
Previously, this warning appeared only once per save. It will now appear again on the first relevant storage action in each play session, so players can be reminded before storing Machine boxes.
Drop Areas can now be placed on more valid floor types.
This includes store-related floor areas, allowing players to position Drop Areas more flexibly around their shopping, storage, and delivery flow.
This should make it easier to organize multiple Supply Drop Areas or Item Drop Areas in larger factory layouts.
Save and Load slots now show the farm name from the player’s custom factory name.
This should make it easier to identify different save files, especially for players who manage multiple farms or testing saves. Empty save slots will show a dash instead.
Several Storage Slot Settings labels have been updated to make their behavior clearer.
Previously, some labels could be misunderstood as controlling which Machines were allowed to deliver items into a slot. However, the actual behavior was about preventing certain Machines from taking items out of that slot.
The labels have now been changed to clearer wording:
Disable Taking by Picker Machines
Disable Taking by Supply Cranes
These settings do not prevent items from being delivered into the slot, and players can still take items manually.
There is no behavior change in this update. This is a wording and clarity improvement to help players understand what the settings actually do.
Money and EXP feedback labels have been restored.
The green money gain label, red money loss label, and EXP label should now appear properly when relevant actions happen.
Several purchase and upgrade actions have also received cashier sound feedback, making transactions feel clearer.
This includes actions such as Machine speed upgrades, Supply Crane upgrades, crane slot unlocks, delivery area unlocks, and area expansion-related purchases.
A new Playstyle option has been added:
Processor Outdoor Placement
When this option is enabled, conversion processor Machines can be placed outdoors.
When disabled, placement follows the previous behavior.
Composter and Mixer still keep their existing outdoor placement behavior.
This option gives players more flexibility if they prefer a more relaxed layout style or want to build processing areas outside the factory building.
The virtual keyboard now has a Cancel button.
Players can use Cancel to exit the keyboard without applying the current text input.
Escape on keyboard and the B button on gamepad now also use the same cancel behavior.
The keyboard footer layout has also been adjusted so the Cancel option is easier to identify.
This should make naming Machines, Drop Areas, Box Storage, and other editable objects more comfortable.
Several gamepad shortcut improvements have been added.
In the Settings menu, shortcut buttons can now move focus directly to important controls such as Apply and Default.
In Machine, Supplies, and Equipment purchase panels, a shortcut can move focus directly to the Cart.
These shortcuts only move the focus. They do not automatically press the selected button.
This should reduce the amount of navigation needed when using a gamepad.
Machine animations now better reflect Machine speed.
Moving parts such as belts and rollers can animate faster as the Machine speed level increases.
This has been applied across several transport, storage, processing, picker, and delivery-related Machines.
This visual polish should make upgraded Machines feel more responsive and easier to read at a glance.
Several visual and model updates have been added.
This includes new models, icon updates, display board improvements, lighting updates, UI adjustments, and other visual polish across several systems.
Several new texts have also been added and translated across supported languages, including texts for Double Stack Machines, Drone Picker, Drop Areas, Supply Crane settings, input settings, virtual keyboard options, and updated UI labels.
Fixed an issue where Machine placement preview could appear later than expected after deploying a Machine from a box.
The preview should now appear more smoothly during the deployment flow.
Fixed an issue where carrying multiple boxes of the same Machine type could result in an incorrect extra Machine being created after deploying once.
Machine deployment from boxes should now consume and handle the correct box properly.
Fixed an issue where the Tablet could be opened during certain placement moments.
This could interrupt the placement flow or cause unexpected behavior.
The Tablet should now be blocked properly during these placement states.
Fixed an issue where picking up another item could overwrite the item currently being held.
This should prevent cases where the player’s current held item state could be replaced unexpectedly.
Fixed several issues in the input binding panel.
Rebinding an input should no longer accidentally close the Settings panel or remove unapplied changes.
Canceling a rebind should also no longer trigger unrelated menu actions.
This should make control rebinding safer and more reliable.
Fixed an issue where rebinding to modifier keys such as Shift, Alt, or Ctrl could only bind to one side of the keyboard.
Modifier bindings should now work more consistently.
Fixed an issue where gamepad users could not properly rebind movement directions.
Movement input binding should now work more reliably for both keyboard and gamepad users.
Fixed an issue where some gamepad rotate inputs could rotate in the same direction instead of opposite directions.
Rotation control feedback and placement prompts have also been improved to better match the current input device and bindings.
Fixed several UI display issues across Machine and Storage-related panels.
This includes improvements to output cards, selected item lists, information boards, long labels, monitor placement, and several UI layout issues caused by updated Machine settings or new Machine types.
Fixed several placement and interaction issues.
This includes improvements related to Machine placement, item pickup, Drop Area behavior, and collision or interaction behavior during factory editing.
These fixes should make factory editing and item handling more reliable.
Fixed an issue where tutorial progress could be incorrectly treated as completed after saving and exiting during the final tutorial stage.
This could cause the remaining tutorial objective to disappear after loading the save again.
Tutorial progression should now continue more reliably after saving and loading.
Fixed an issue where opening the Tablet during a short Machine placement transition could cause the placement flow to become stuck.
In some cases, this could leave the player unable to place, cancel, open the pause menu, use the Tablet, or end the day properly.
The placement flow is now locked more safely during this transition, and starting a second placement while another placement is still active is now prevented.
Fixed an issue where using the reposition option from the pause menu could cause the player to become stuck if another interaction happened during the reposition transition.
Input is now handled more safely during the fade, wait, teleport, and fade-in sequence.
