LOCALIZATION FIXES
Two days after launch, two players used the in-game feedback button to report text showing up in the wrong language. One was playing in Russian, the other in English as South Africa.
They were right. And once I started digging, the problem went further than the two things they pointed at.
All of this is fixed and already live.
WHAT'S FIXED
The game start message. Fully translated now, with the nation name in your own language.
Negotiations with parliamentary parties. These were coming through in Italian for everyone, no matter what language you had set.
Parliament chamber names. The Russian Duma now shows as Государственная дума instead of the Italian form.
Government type and coalition labels.
Reform names and descriptions.
Diplomatic reports: trade deals, sanctions, IMF loans, and company actions.
End of turn reports now use your nation's currency symbol. Before this they showed euros for everybody, which made no sense if you were playing Japan.
Russian plurals in seat counts. 1 место, 184 места, 25 мест. The game used to pick one form and stick with it, which is just wrong in Russian.
Plus a handful of smaller labels that were still sitting there in English or Italian.
WHAT'S STILL NOT DONE
Party names in games you already started. And minister names still come through in Latin script for Russian players.
Both are on the list. This is Early Access and I'd rather tell you what's broken than let you find it.
THANK YOU
The feedback form inside the game doesn't let me write back to whoever sent something. So this is the only way I have to say it.
To the two of you who took the time to report this: it landed, I read it, and it's fixed. The Russian report in particular opened up half of what's in that list above. I wouldn't have found it on my own, because I don't play in Russian.
Спасибо большое. Ваше сообщение помогло исправить гораздо больше, чем вы указали.
ONE PRACTICAL NOTE
If you had the game open while this went out, close it completely and reopen it. Otherwise you'll still be looking at the old text.
