2026.8.l.31 - "THE HEART HAD BEEN AN APPLE ONCE"
- there are now three dialogue speeds: CALM, QUICK and CRISP. Try 'em out and see which one works for you.
- related: fix for the stuttering effect in dialogue - typewriting in CALM and QUICK is much smoother (CRISP has no typewriting at all)
- you can now use a mixture of Experiences rather than all of one type to increase (but not evolve) a Skill or Passion, making it much easier to increase.
- Skill increase costs up to 10 have been halved for both career and non-career skills; you can also increase a skill to 9 at character generation
- these aren't final numbers! We'll tune as the game grows. But I wanted to let people try out more skill increases in the demo.
- We're now supporting non-QWERTY keyboard layouts as best we can. I've tried it with French and German, most other Latin layouts should work. If yours doesn't, send us an F10 and we'll see what we can do
- related: LeftAlt now works as well as Z for interactable highlighting
- We've updated the keyboard shortcuts image to take account of recent changes. (still shows QWERTY, no rebinding options yet, don't get too excited)
- Spencer is now much less likely to run backwards
- you should no longer be able to start a conversation while changing scene.
- added skill checks to certain occult actions in Chez Felix - laying the groundowrk for making occult actions clearer
- Lucifer Match now has the Unveil aspect (ditto)
- footnote text-search now includes tutorial messages that you've seen (except some highly incidental/specific ones)
- softened the lines on the crafting menu, added click-to-lock skill headers, fixed a typo
- prettified ending screen
- prettified Aspect Pool
- three memories had a stack size of 1, fixed to 99
- you'd have got this patch yesterday but I found a wretched bug that meant the inventory-drag would inexplicably force-drop items. After two hours of bug-hunting it turned out to be a bug that only surfaced in the editor, not in the actual build you lot see. I'm 95% certain of this, so if you see it, for God's sake send me an F10.
