Tomorrow is the day!

Silent Shark 1.0 launches on August 12 at 21:00 CEST / 3 PM EDT / noon PDT, with a 20% launch discount for the first 7 days.

Backstory

Creating and releasing a game of my own has been a dream of mine ever since I was a kid. This year, I decided to take the plunge. I had this submarine game idea bouncing around in my head which reminded me of good old Silent Service II back on Atari ST. I began work on it as just an experiment to see if the idea of a fully map-based submarine sim might be any fun. Turns out, it actually was!

And now around 19,000 of you have wishlisted it and you've all been so positive and helpful. All this is completely surreal to me and I am having such a blast. A huge thank you to everyone who played the demo, reported bugs, offered suggestions, joined the Discord, watched a stream, or just shot me a word of encouragement!

Who is this game for?

If you enjoy the idea of taking time to track contacts on the hydrophone, plot their course and come up with an intercept route, of identifying ships through a periscope from distance, estimating their range and angle-on-bow, entering a solution into a realistic Torpedo Data Computer with dials directly based on their historical counterparts, and then striking and trying to evade while a relentless destroyer (or two) hunts you down - this game is for you.

Silent Shark is all about learning how to beat uncertainty with math, using your instruments, the incomplete information you have, making careful decisions, and about that satisfying moment when the torpedoes arrive exactly where you predicted they would.

The demo already provides a taste of the tactical encounters. The full version adds a ton more:

  • A full Pacific campaign with patrol zones, radio intelligence, historical events, and long-range mission planning
  • Reputation-based progression through six submarine classes, from the Porpoise class to the Balao class
  • Changing enemy activity, convoy routes, aircraft threats, bases, technology, and torpedo reliability as the war progresses
  • Standalone scenarios, tutorials, a scenario generator and editor, Steam achievements, and cloud saves
  • A full Cribbage mini-game for you to play - and if you're anything like me, it will make you realize you're not a very good Cribbage player.

If you would like to see the full version in action, Wolfpack345 recently gave it a 40-minute spin and had a blast:

1.0 is already a complete game, but it is not at all the end of development. I will be listening closely, fixing problems, and sticking to the roadmap I published a while back - all those things are things I myself want in the game, so I'll be adding them throughout the rest of the year and will keep you posted.

So again: Silent Shark launches tomorrow at 21:00 CEST, with 20% off for the first seven days.
If you are still unsure whether it is your kind of submarine game, give the free demo a try.
Thank you all for helping me get this far. See you tomorrow!

Community15 Sep 2026Silent Shark Devlog: Moddability & Controller SupportI've been hard at work getting Silent Shark to a point of being moddable as well as fully supporting controller input, so here's a video showing off how far I am so far - I'm planning on making a beta available soon for testers to try it out! And just in case you haven't seen it yet, I'm still very much on schedule for my roadmap:In-game event1 Sep 2026v1.0.3 - "Crew Reports" UpdateLots of awesome new stuff in this update - my personal favorite is that I've turned the "Event Log" into a "Crew Reports" panel where the various stations of your submarine will be calling out information in the correct order. I found an original recording of the USS Sealion making an attack run, so mirror the callouts based on that. This includes things like "Time to target" and lots of other…Community22 Aug 2026v1.0.2 "Quality of Life" Update is out!Releasing a big update today with a lot of awesome stuff - lots of it as a result of ideas and feedback by all of you.
