Farm Factory Simulator · published
Hi farmers, 😄
Thank you for continuing to play Farm Factory Simulator during Early Access.
We would also like to thank everyone who has shared feedback, suggestions, and bug reports through the Steam Discussions and the in-game Bug Report / Feedback feature.
Your involvement and constructive feedback have been very helpful for us in reviewing which parts of the game need clearer information, smoother automation behavior, better item flow, or additional improvements.
In this update, several changes are based on the feedback and reports we have received so far, especially around factory flow, Storage control, Picker Machine behavior, Machine upgrades, Factory Gate routing, Store Rack setup, and several issues that could affect production or progression.
Here is what is included in this update.
Processing Machines have received several improvements to make production flow easier to understand and manage.
Processing Machines are used to turn certain ingredients into new products. With this update, their internal item flow is now displayed more clearly.
The Machine monitor has been updated to show more useful production information, including:
The selected recipe output.
Required ingredients.
Ingredient stock inside the Machine.
Output stock.
Failed Output stock.
Processing time.
Ingredient storage, Output, and Failed Output are now handled more clearly as separate parts of the Machine.
If the Output area is full, the Machine will pause its current processing flow until there is enough space again. Once the Output has room, processing can continue automatically.
Players can also insert ingredient boxes directly into a Processing Machine. If the box contains an ingredient required by the selected recipe, the Machine will take the ingredient into its internal buffer.
If the box contains an item that is not part of the selected recipe, the box will be rejected instead of sending the item into the wrong output path.
These changes should make Processing Machines easier to read, easier to manage, and more reliable when handling longer production lines.
Storage Machines now provide more detailed control over how items are accepted, stored, and taken by other Machines.
Storage now uses a smaller monitor display and includes a new Failed Output panel.
This panel shows items that are rejected from Conveyor input when the Storage cannot accept them. This can happen when slots are full, limited, pinned to another commodity, unavailable, or when the Storage type does not accept that item.
Please note that this panel is specifically for items rejected from Conveyor input.
Storage slots also now have a dedicated Storage Slot Settings popup. This popup groups several slot-related settings into one place, making Storage management easier to adjust.
The Storage Slot Settings popup includes:
Commodity pin settings.
Block machines from taking here toggle.
Item limit settings for the slot.
The Block machines from taking here toggle prevents Machines from taking items from that slot. This can help players reserve certain items without changing the slot’s commodity setting.
When this setting is active, Machines such as Picker Machines, Supply Arms, and other automation systems will skip that slot when taking items. Players can still take from or deposit into the slot manually.
A new item limit setting has also been added for each Storage slot. When enabled, players can set the maximum number of items that should be stored in that slot.
This allows more precise control over Storage usage, production flow, and how much stock should be reserved in certain places.
Picker Machine behavior has been expanded for players who use item rotation.
When Alternate between items is enabled, each selected item can now have its own quantity per turn.
This means the Picker Machine can be set to take multiple units of one item before moving to the next selected item in the rotation.
A new option, Wait for the item in turn, has also been added.
When this option is enabled, the Picker Machine will wait for the item currently scheduled in the rotation instead of skipping to another available item.
When this option is disabled, the Picker Machine will continue using the previous behavior and skip unavailable items in the rotation.
These settings give players more control over how Picker Machines balance item retrieval, especially in production lines that need specific item ratios or more predictable item flow.
Speed Upgrade support has been added to more Machines to help reduce item flow bottlenecks.
Storage Machines can now receive Machine Speed Upgrades. This applies to Storage Machine, Waste Storage Machine, Seed Storage Machine, and Nutrient Storage Machine.
This helps improve their input handling speed, making Storage Machines more suitable for busier production lines where many items are being delivered into Storage.
Delivery Drone Machine can also now receive Machine Speed Upgrades.
Upgrading the Delivery Drone Machine improves both its conveyor speed and Picker Arm speed, allowing it to handle delivery flow more efficiently.
These upgrades give players more ways to improve throughput as their factory grows and production lines become more active.
Additional Factory Gates have been added to help reduce bottlenecks between the Farm and Factory.
Previously, item flow from the Farm into the Factory could become limited because only one main gate was available, giving players fewer routing options for conveyors.
With this update, Factory Gate B and Factory Gate C can be unlocked as additional routes from the Farm into the existing Factory area.
These gates do not unlock new Factory areas. Instead, they provide more entry points into the Factory, giving players more flexibility when designing conveyor routes and production layouts.
The gate height has also been updated so these routes can better handle Tall Conveyors.
Unlock requirements and cost information can be checked directly by hovering over each new Factory Gate in the game.
A new Machine Settings Guide has been added to several configuration panels.
This guide can be opened through the ? button and provides descriptions for available settings, helping players understand what each option does before applying changes.
The guide is available for several systems, including:
Picker Machine settings.
Supply Arm settings.
Drone Delivery Station settings.
Storage Slot Settings.
This should make Machine configuration easier to understand, especially for settings related to item sources, rotation behavior, and machine interaction rules.
Eject controls have been improved for Machines that handle stored item lists.
For each item type, there are now separate controls for ejecting items more precisely:
A simple eject icon for ejecting one unit of that item.
A separate control for ejecting all units of that item type.
The global eject option for ejecting all item types from the Machine is still available separately.
These changes make it easier to remove only the item amount you need without clearing more items than intended.
Newly placed Store Racks now default to [None].
This means a new Store Rack will not automatically accept any commodity until the player chooses what should be placed there.
When a Store Rack is empty and set to [None], it will show a prompt asking players to select a commodity to place.
This should help prevent Store Racks from being filled automatically with unintended items.
Existing Store Racks from older saves will keep their saved settings.
All Storage Machines now have mirrored versions.
This applies to Storage Machine, Waste Storage Machine, Seed Storage Machine, and Nutrient Storage Machine.
Mirrored versions give players more layout flexibility when placing Storage Machines, especially when designing conveyor routes, input paths, and compact production areas.
With mirrored versions available, Storage setups can be arranged more easily depending on the direction and shape of each factory layout.
Composter and Mixer Machines can now be placed both outside and inside the Factory area.
This is a special placement rule for these Processing Machines, giving players more flexibility when deciding where to process Plant Waste, Nutrient, or related production materials.
Other Processing Machines still follow their existing placement rules.
When deploying Composter or Mixer Machines, the placement information will also explain that they can be placed in outdoor areas or inside the Factory.
Several tutorial and information entries have been updated.
This includes additional guidance related to Picker Machine and Storage setup, as well as Store Rack supply information.
Some item information text has also been adjusted to make time units easier to read, such as displaying time in min format.
Several sprites and content visuals have also been updated, including Hot Sauce and Cow Milk related visuals.
Several visual polish updates have been added.
This includes new building door models, updated pipe models, building material updates, and lighting adjustments.
These updates are part of ongoing visual polish to make Factory areas and building components feel more consistent with the game’s style.
Fixed an issue where a Supply Crane could repeatedly move up and down when trying to deposit an item into a Storage that could not actually accept it.
The Supply Crane now checks whether the target Storage can accept the carried item before trying to deposit it.
If no valid Storage is available, the Supply Crane will wait instead of repeating the same failed movement.
Fixed an issue where Visitor objectives related to Machine-produced items could fail to progress if the produced item could not leave the Machine output.
Production objectives are now counted when the craft is completed, instead of depending on whether the item successfully exits the Machine output.
This should prevent certain Visitor objectives from getting stuck when the Machine output is full or not connected.
Fixed an incorrect Corn growth time value.
Corn previously used an incorrect growth time of 500 minutes due to an input error.
This has now been corrected to 50 minutes, which is the intended value.
Fixed an issue where the Overlay Info display did not update properly when hovering over growing objects.
This could make the growth percentage appear as if it was not progressing, even though the object was still growing correctly.
The hover information should now update properly while the object continues growing.
Fixed an issue where the Picker Machine quantity stepper could interfere with item grid navigation.
Fixed an issue where Picker Machine rotation could reset even when the selected item list or quantity had not actually changed.
Fixed several navigation issues related to Picker Machine settings, especially when using a gamepad.
These fixes should make Picker Machine settings more reliable, especially when adjusting rotation behavior.
Fixed an issue where ejecting items to the Failed Output in the Delivery Machine could cause stored item counts to be recalculated incorrectly.
This should prevent items from being counted incorrectly after using eject actions.
Fixed the conveyor direction visual on the Merge Machine model.
This should make the Machine’s visual direction clearer and more consistent with its actual conveyor flow.
Fixed an issue where some Product Commodities that fell to the ground could not be picked up.
Players should now be able to pick up fallen Product Commodities properly.
