Throwing Weapons and Adventure Improvements (v126)
Experimental save upgrade: Saves from v120 can now be upgraded and will be backed up first, but some bugs may persist. Older versions remain available through Steam branches.
This update adds full throwing-weapon support, expands rogue and fighter options, improves monster combat behavior, retunes several quests and encounters, and includes a broad collection of item, world, and quality-of-life fixes.
Throwing Weapons
- Added the Throwing weapon skill.
- Added throwing knives, throwing axes, javelins, darts, and throwing stones.
- Added throwing weapons to character starts, shops, loot, and generated magic-item systems.
- Added dedicated throwing-weapon icons and improved ammunition presentation.
- Improved thrown-item targeting, including cycling between valid enemies.
- Added clearer thrown attack and saving-throw roll details.
Classes and Combat
- Reworked the rogue's high-level Vanish action into Shadow Rush, granting invisibility and two immediate actions.
- Reworked Distract to briefly blind enemies and enable a melee backstab.
- Granted rogues additional skill choices and improved stealth behavior when changing floors.
- Improved backstab messaging and armor penetration.
- Added a fighter weapon-generalist progression option.
- Adjusted weapon training costs, proficiency bonuses, shield training, and several class starting proficiencies.
- Made passive equipment attack bonuses work correctly.
- Added an enemy flanking attack bonus and adjusted repeated melee attacks.
- Changed silver weapons to bypass physical resistance on appropriate monsters.
- Corrected numerous class features whose descriptions or effects did not match.
Magic and Monsters
- Improved monster spell selection so powerful casters use stronger spells more reliably.
- Improved lich spell selection.
- Added or retuned reactive behaviors for several monsters, including berserk, haste, fear, and enrage effects.
- Made Ice Storm leave temporary ice patches.
- Improved hidden escape behavior so enemies lose pursuit more quickly after the player disappears.
World, Quests, and Encounters
- Added structured furniture, debris, work areas, burials, storage, and environmental detail across many dungeons.
- Improved fortress, crypt, quarry, monastery, tower, aqueduct, cave, and ruin layouts.
- Reworked the Floodgate valve interaction and added alternate ways to force the gate.
- Improved Oldroot Temple floors, entrances, and floor labels.
- Improved Runeforge Core discovery and related quest guidance.
- Opened Dorran's armory earlier and retuned its stock progression.
- Retuned the White Seal Tower encounter as an early introduction to dragons and shock resistance.
- Improved several shop inventories, quest rewards, encounter densities, and zone layouts.
Items and Economy
- Improved protection against severe carried-item damage and destruction.
- Retuned gray ooze corrosion and elemental item hazards.
- Allowed valuable monster corpses to be sold and improved preserved-corpse rewards.
- Made black venom phials correctly poison weapons on hit.
- Implemented Stillwater's potion-doubling effect.
- Converted Lucky Find into a delicate gold necklace.
- Corrected various artifact description and effect mismatches.
- Expanded enchanted cloth, leather, ammunition, container, and specialist shop stock.
Fixes and Quality of Life
- Improved Knock, Greater Knock, cone spells, charm behavior, autoexplore, and auto-travel.
- Improved training dummies, spell effects, pickup identification rolls, skill-roll messages, and quest updates.
- Fixed numerous stairs, room stamps, props, movement bindings, equipment effects, and progression edge cases.
- Improved sprite validation, material variants, item icons, and world presentation.
