Hello Operators! On October 27th, we'll be dropping a major update for Codename CURE II, and we're very excited to get it into everyone's hands - It will come with new free content, as well as our first major DLC Expansion! While the update isn't ready just yet, we wanted to give everyone a heads up of what's to come and what to look forward to.
First, the DLC - The incoming update will include a major Expansion Pack, the "Metropolis Pack". This will be an entirely new region that includes both a Bomb Extract and a Survival mission. In our continuous pursuit to be as consumer friendly as possible, you won't need to own the DLC in order to play those maps, as long as at least one player in the lobby owns it. That is, as long as ANY player in the lobby owns the DLC (not just the host), the mission will be able to be selected in CURE HQ. Players will also be able to freely join lobbies that are currently playing the new regions, regardless of whether or not they own the DLC. Metropolis is based off large cities in the Midwest, inspired by places like Chicago, featuring canals, massive draw bridges, tram lines, skyscrapers, parks, huge streets, and more!
Here's some early W.I.P sneak peeks of the Region:
The plan for this region is for it to be more diverse than every other map by a significant margin. Taking into account much of the feedback we've received from other maps since launch, making this region a truly definitive experience. Even in it's current unfinished state, it has more procedural tiles than every other map in the game! The DLC will also come with a complementary new Uniform, and a Police Skin for every weapon!
(Note: The Blue Color is the Police Skin for guns. Every gun in the game has that Blue Variant in the DLC!)
Some of the other things included this update that are pretty awesome:
- A Customization Menu Overhaul, separating customization options into unique categories and sub categories, making customization menus far more readable and accessible + more free color variants for various outfits and uniforms.
- Per-Map Zombie variations. Maps will now have the ability to have distinct, unique appearances for zombies on a per-region basis. Great Basin Base, for example, has scientists, test subjects, military personnel. Urban maps have police officers, construction workers, riot police, Forest has Park Rangers, etc.
- Optimization in various places of the game, dramatically cheapening some materials, and optimizations for the dynamic lighting system. Lights will be much more efficient on High & Ultra Settings especially!
- We've also gotten intel from our scouts that the mutation is evolving. New types of infected have been spotted out in the wild, and more information will be coming soon...
Additionally, fellow indie developer Mad Mechs Inc is making a pretty cool vehicle combat game "Mad Metal", so we've combined it in a bundle with our Combat Specialist Pack DLC (which is also currently on sale right now!). If you're a fan of games like Twisted Metal, like Indie games, metal music, cool car combat, and in-depth vehicle customization, we'd recommend checking it out! They've already been making huge improvements to the game based on player feedback and we have personally enjoyed it so far. The developer also recently launched a pretty major update that comes with a bunch of extra vehicles! (and players who already own our Combat Specialist Pack still get a pretty solid discount for Mad Metal, and vice versa, so all the more reason to check it out)
The CURE II Metropolis update will release on October 27th, and more will be shown off publicly as we get closer to launch. We're looking forward to playing it with you all once it comes out! We'll see you all then, watch this space!
