Development Update 2 : Recap

Hello

Previously, we released an update that changed the in-game environment quite significantly, especially in the city map, where the changes are clearly noticeable. However, we didn’t announce or share any development details regarding that update, as we were spending time researching and improving the game to achieve the best performance we possibly could. As of now, we’ve found a fairly clear method for improving the game’s performance.

Recap

In the previous update that we didn’t officially announce, we made several performance improvements.
To boost the game’s performance, we focused on optimizing building-type objects, including structures, buildings, and architectural elements.
This was a task that required a lot of development time due to the complexity of designing and placing these buildings in a way that allows them to be reused efficiently.
We also made adjustments to the surrounding environment to support optimization.
Another system we’d like to introduce is "Visibility Proxy" a system created to assist with object loading across each map.Details about this will follow next.

Environment

We’ve improved the environment in the city map by adding more complexity and detail, while also optimizing the game. This was done by placing objects to block the player’s line of sight, which helps reduce the rendering distance of objects in front of the player.
At the same time, this approach helps guide gameplay flow, allowing players to better understand the area they are currently exploring.

Improve Building Structure

We’ve improved the building models to enhance their visual quality and add more detailed elements to the structures.Players who explore the city map will notice that the appearance of many buildings has changed significantly,
But their positions remain the same in order to preserve the original gameplay structure.

Improve Building Interior

We’ve improved the building interiors to better match the structure and shape of each building, while also expanding the navigable space compared to the previous layout.
The new interiors are more complex and feature increased detail.

Optimization

We’ve adjusted the LOD (Level of Detail) rendering for trucks to ensure they are visible from longer distances while also reducing memory load. We’ve added long-distance object rendering using the HLOD (Hierarchical Level of Detail) system, a method that helps reduce memory load by generating simplified models for distant rendering.

"Visibility Proxy" is a core system we developed to optimize complex scenes and dense object placement. It works by dividing the map into zones and rendering only the objects within zones that the player is close to.This system supports prioritization of object rendering, allowing us to hide smaller zones inside larger zones.
For example, when the player is inside a large zone, only nearby smaller zones will be rendered. It also supports hiding interior objects when the player is outside a building, and hiding certain exterior elements when the player is inside, helping to further reduce load and improve performance.

Building

We’ve improved the building models to better support higher-quality optimization.
We created modular models that can be reused to assemble various building configurations,
allowing us to create diverse environments and distinct locations more efficiently.

Current Update

This update will add a new type of vehicle to increase detail and interaction with the player, which is different from the previous vehicle type.
Here is the list of vehicles added in this update.

  • Ambulance
  • SUV
  • Police SUV
  • Taxi SUV

Players can now explore vehicles more thoroughly, even opening doors to grab items directly for use.
Some vehicles with rear doors can also be interacted with by the player.

Fix electrical boxes so they can be looted in all locations
Fix terrain texture mipmaps to improve long-distance clarity
Fix the number of items that can be looted from vehicles
Fix vehicle door opening angles
Fix the item size of the watch
Fix the item size of the mobile phone
Fix the item size of the brick
Fix the item size of the can
Fix the loot quantity from the yellow power generator
Fix mailboxes so they can be looted in all locations
Fix player collision size
Fix camera movement when pulling back a bow
