The Early Pre-Alpha Playtest Results!

The waters have gone quiet again, and that can only mean one thing: the DREADMOOR Pre-Alpha playtest has come to an end. Left behind is the recorded data and observations of the players as they frantically attempted to get out of the Wastes, through the giant Beaver dam, no less!

For a short time, the eerily calm of the Submerged Land was disturbed. Boats cut through the stale swamp waters, lines were cast, fish were caught, and risks were taken where caution might have been wiser. What remains now is not the players themselves, but a record of their actions, captured, measured, and preserved.

These numbers will now live on for an eternity, proof that the Submerged Lands are real and that they have truly been visited by people!
As for what will happen next, this playtest has already reshaped DREADMOOR in ways that won’t always be obvious. Systems will be reworked. Assumptions will be challenged. Some paths will close, while others may become harder to find.

Once again, we’d like to thank each and every one of you who took part, and even those who couldn’t but still joined in on the many conversations and discussions about the game.
It’s time for us to get back to the development of DREADMOOR; however, we’re now armed with real data, so you can expect to see some big progress in the near future!

Community4 Sep 2026Celebrating 400k wishlists and Open Playtest (10-14 September)We’ve passed 400,000 wishlists on Steam. Normally, this is where we’d give you the carefully written PR paragraph about how overjoyed, thrilled, humbled, and generally delighted we are to have reached such an incredible milestone. And, well…we are, but what’s written below is probably a lot closer to what actually went through our heads when we saw the number. 400,000 is, frankly, a slightly ri…Community28 Aug 2026Dev Diary #6: The Trawler as a LifelineWelcome to our sixth Dev Diary, where we return once more to the world of DREADMOOR to talk about something that is central to how the player experiences the Submerged Lands: the trawler. In our previous Dev Diaries, we looked at the world after the collapse, the Sea Blight, the importance of fishing, and how DREADMOOR builds tension without relying on constant combat. All of those topics conne…Community19 Aug 2026Dev Diary #5: How DREADMOOR Builds Tension Without Constant CombatWelcome to our fifth Dev Diary, where we return to the world of DREADMOOR and talk about something that sits at the heart of the game’s atmosphere: tension. In our previous Dev Diaries, we looked at the world of DREADMOOR, the importance of fishing, the Sea Blight, and what came after the collapse. All of these things are connected by one shared idea, which is that danger in DREADMOOR should no…
