Organizing Your Base Without Magic Chests

I wanted to create a more natural way of storing and organizing items. There aren't static containers or chests to choose from, but rather backpacks and item piles.

Item Piling System
Instead of stuffing resources into menus, you manage them physically.

  • The Pile Mechanic: You can organize your resources into neat piles (up to 14 items).
  • Easy Relocation: The whole item pile can be moved and rotated. This is a more natural way to organize your resources in the wilderness.
  • Visual Clarity: UI will show quantity and lowest durability in the pile.
  • Pileable items: Primarily for raw resources (wood, stone, etc.). Perishables and tools are managed separately due to their unique durability and spoilage traits.

Wall Racks and Vertical Storage
Floor space is precious, so utilize verticality to keep your camp functional.

  • Wall Racks & Knives: Install dedicated racks on your walls or stab your knife into a tree to create an instant hanging spot to keep your gear off the ground.
  • Dynamic Hanging: Use these to hang tools, dry animal hides, or cure meat.
  • Backpacks: Since there are no magic chests, your crafted backpacks are your primary containers. Hang them on wall racks or knives to turn them into “primitive lockers” for better visibility and a cleaner camp, or simply keep them on the ground.

The Primitive Fridge (Ground Storage):
Food spoilage is a constant threat, and some items need more protection than others.

  • In-ground Cellar: By digging into the ground and building a reinforced hatch, you create a functional cool cellar.
  • Preservation: The cool earth acts as a natural refrigerator, significantly slowing down the spoilage rate of meat and other perishables.
  • Management: This Ground Storage features a dedicated interface with 16 slots for your perishable items.
