Update 24, Prehistoric Storm

ReTrime · published 10 Dec 2025, 11:38 UTC · build 21130181

All newsPlayers around this dateRead on Steam

New final boss:

    The first creature, Eden
  • Found during the end of Prey mode, replacing Revelation.
  • Its slow yet powerful attacks deny large areas for several seconds; easily becoming overwhelming if used in the same place. Good mobility is essential to frequently take the fight somewhere else.
  • Its large size and lack of flight make it an easy target for most weapons, including close-range ones that would struggle against Revelation. To make up for this weakness, it is more resistant while not attacking.

New unlocks:

Fog River

  • Unlocked by defeating Eden and winning as Caster.
  • Once unlocked, appears while the countdown has less than 11 hours remaining.
  • A wide river covering a large part of the ocean floor. Swimming into the fog will impair your vision.

Eruption

  • Unlocked by defeating Eden and winning as Furnace.
  • Once unlocked, begins after the countdown reaches 10 hours remaining.
  • The volcanoes erupt, covering the surface in streaks of lava. Touching the lava applies Burning.
  • Being in the underground applies Heat, but extra care is needed to avoid its large lava pools.
  • The previously harmless geysers become smaller volcanoes, dealing a little damage and applying Heat.

Sandstorm

  • Unlocked by defeating Eden and winning as Rhythm.
  • Once unlocked, begins after the countdown reaches 9 hours remaining.
  • Strong winds send clouds of sand across the desert.
  • Projectiles are slightly pushed in the direction of the sandstorm, making aiming and predicting enemy attacks more difficult.

New enemies:

Ghost Squid

  • Replaces the Quad Squid while the Fog River is active.
  • When threatened, becomes translucent and emits a cloud of vision-empairing fog while swimming away.

Spider Supplier

  • Replaces the Spider Carrier and Trooper during the Eruption.
  • Detonates upon coming close to its target or being killed, covering the ground in lava.

Living Typhoon

  • Replaces the Living Breeze during the Sandstorm.
  • Can only be damaged by hitting its eye which spins around itself.

Massless Will

  • Found during Prey mode, in between fights against the Anomaly Hunter.
  • An unkillable and intangible ghost that constantly chases you, its speed increases as the countdown reaches its end.
  • Upon reaching you, it grows to surround a large area, regularly covering it in lightning.
  • Once you leave the area, it shrinks back to its original size and restarts the chase.

New items:

Fog Sac

  • Dropped by Ghost Squid.
  • Spell cooldown: 12 seconds.
  • Mimics an Ink Shooter in recipies that require it.
  • Fire a projectile which covers a large area with fog for 6 seconds.
  • Enemies inside the fog will be unable to see you.
  • If you are inside the fog, your vision will be slightly impaired, but every enemy will be incapable of seeing you.
  • Enemies that can’t see you will target the center of the fog instead.

Ghost Polyp

  • Recipe: Broken Clock + Fog Sac.
  • Summons a ghost jellyfish.
  • Fire1: Mark an enemy as the jellyfish's target.
  • On Hit: Fill up a "Stealth" meter. It takes 10 hits to completely fill it.
  • Fire2: If "Stealth" is full, become invisible for 3 seconds; causing enemies to target the jellyfish instead of you.

Lava Launcher

  • Dropped by Spider Supplier.
  • Mimics a Flamethrower in recipies that require it.
  • Fire1: Slowly fires molten globs that cover the ground in pools of lava which apply Burning.

Sand Sculpture

  • Dropped by Living Typhoon.
  • Consumable.
  • Mimics Sand in recipies that require it.
  • Throw a device which creates a sand sculpture of you that enemies can target.
  • The sculpture lasts 12 seconds and has 100 health.

Sand Guardian

  • Recipe: Stone Guardian + Sand Sculpture.
  • Opens the Command Inventory; letting you summon, dismiss and command a sand guardian that stays near you and shoots sand grains at nearby enemies.
  • Your health is shared with the sand guardian. All damage and healing applied to the guardian is halved and redirected to you.
  • You can only have one guardian at any moment.

Celebration

  • Found in a place that really should've had a secret since launch.
  • Consumable.
  • Place a party table. It acts as a bench; stopping enemies from spawning, allowing you to rest, and teleport to it using a Warp Stone.
  • Once placed, the table will stay there for the rest of the current run and cannot be moved.
  • "Thank you!"

Other Changes:

  • Various improvements to our wiki at https://retrime.wiki.gg/ with info about all items and enemies pulled from the game.
  • Unlocks that required defeating Revelation can now be obtained no matter what bosses were defeated, as long as the required characters won.
  • Renamed the Regeneration meter to Recovery, to better distinguish it from other forms of healing.
  • Overhauled the Interface settings menu, moving the "Collect duration" slider to it and adding toggles for each element.
  • Slightly improved movement up and down slopes.
  • You cannot change characters while the hunter is alive and after setting the final boss challenger order.
  • Added breakable tube coral.
