Fire – The Heart of Survival and Technology
Fire is far more than just a light source. It’s a versatile tool that requires strategic maintenance.
- Versatile Fuels: Almost anything combustible can be used: wood, leaves, sap or animal fat.
- Environmental Impact: An open campfire is vulnerable. Wind and rain can extinguish it if you don't account for wind direction or provide adequate cover.
- Different Fire Sources:
- Campfire & Oven: Used mainly for cooking, boiling water, and warmth. The oven is a superior, sheltered, and more efficient version of the campfire.
- Firestand: A light source specifically designed to illuminate your base and ward off wolves.
- Charcoal Mound: Bloomery works only with charcoal. Use a charcoal mound to produce larger quantities of charcoal.
- Bloomery: Used mainly for advanced metal processing, but can also harden bricks and pottery. Items heated in bloomery cannot be removed until bloomery has cooled off enough.
Other Functions: Fire dries wet clothing faster, deter predators and thaw frozen food or melt snow/ice in containers for drinking water during winter.
Clothing – Warmth & Protection
Your clothes are your primary shield against cold weather and predators, but they require constant attention.
- Warmth and Armor: Clothing keeps you warm and provides a layer of protection against wolf attacks. Primitive armor offers only protection without warmth.
- The Risk of Wetness: If your clothes get soaked in the rain, they lose their insulation.
- Added Weight: Wet fabric absorbs water and becomes heavier, directly impacting your carrying capacity.
- Durability: Every piece of gear wears out over time. (if item decay is enabled)

Carry Weight & Fatigue
- Inventory vs. Weight: You have a limited number of slots, but also a specific weight capacity.
- Shoulder: Wood trunks and other bigger items can be only carried on your shoulder.
- Effects of Overburdening: If you exceed your carry capacity, your movement (walking and running) slows down proportionally to the extra weight.
- Endurance Skill: Your carry weight is not static. It increases as you level up your endurance skill.
- Bags: Crafting bags will provide more inventory slots, allowing you to organize and carry more items.
