v0.17 is a QA-focused update concentrating on interface consistency, controller support, display scaling, and route presentation.

Highlights include:

  • Fixed controller navigation when connecting a gamepad during the tutorial. Board stars are now immediately selectable.

  • Corrected tutorial menus loading the wrong level.

  • Improved menu layouts across 16:9, 16:10, ultrawide, portrait, and 4K displays.

  • Fixed text distortion when playing in a maximized window on a 4K monitor.

  • Restored ships orbiting their current planet on the route screen.

  • Removed invalid and invisible controller targets from the route screen.

  • Improved route variety by preventing the same route from being immediately generated again.

  • Smoothed the galaxy’s entrance animation so it expands naturally instead of beginning as a tiny cluster.

  • Removed the Settings button from the full-reset confirmation, preventing a recursive navigation stack.

  • Improved parity between the automated menu QA renders and the actual release build.

The final pass covered 105 automated menu captures across five display formats, along with controller, gameplay, and manual release-candidate testing.

Thanks for playing—and for helping us make Matchy Star shine a little brighter!

Matchy Star Alpha Demo v0.18.0 is live! This update is all about making BLASTOFF faster, clearer, and much more satisfying. Blastoff now follows one simple rule: the rocket keeps moving.
