Responding to your Demo Feedback

Greetings soldiers!

The Emperor cares for each and every one of you. That is why he has tasked us with addressing the biggest points of feedback from the Valor Mortis Demo. The Game Director and Lead Designer took time to discuss what you liked and what you didn't like about it. This is an important junction as we continue improving the game ahead of our launch on October 13!

Based on your comments and survey responses, most players enjoyed the first-person combat system, especially the feel of the landing a perfect parry, the challenging and epic boss fights, and how the game blends FPS and Soulslike gameplay. You also enjoyed the unique Napoleonic setting and atmosphere that our team has worked very hard to create!

Right now, we are in the polishing phase. Every day, the game is playing and performing better than the last. In this Dev Log, we talk in detail about the 4 areas where we want to answer questions and improve the game based on your Demo feedback.

  • Improving combat - Readability, hitbox range, staggering enemies

  • Variety in boss battles - Boss difficulty and the difficulty curve with the Demo skipping from Chapter I to Chatper VII

  • Optimizing performance - CPU optimization, enemy impact on performance

  • Platforming vs Combat - How much of the game is platforming and how much is combat?

Please watch this new Dev Log and comment if you want to see more videos like this!
