Lynium 2.0.2 — Patch Notes

Lynium: Play the Rhythm · published 12 Aug 2026, 01:32 UTC

All eventsPlayers around this dateRead on Steam

2.0.0 rebuilt the game. 2.0.2 is about making it feel rebuilt. Two new visibility mods that stack with everything you already run, a Song Selection screen that finally looks the way the game plays, and a launch that takes a fraction of the time it used to. And a website, so your rank lives somewhere other than your own screen.

WE HAVE A WEBSITE

lyniumgame.com is live. See your rankings, compare yourself against every player on every chart, and share your results with people who are not sitting next to you.

  • WORLD RANKINGS for 4K, 7K and Standard, paged all the way down
  • BEATMAP BROWSER with plays, likes and every difficulty in the set
  • NEWS, live player counts and activity, straight from the same tables the game reads

NEW MODS

Hidden (HD)

The notes leave before they reach the line. You keep playing them anyway.

  • SCORE: +10%
  • STACKS WITH: Fade In, and every speed mod

Fade In (FI)

The runway stays dark. Notes only light up once they are near the line.

  • SCORE: +10%
  • STACKS WITH: Hidden, and every speed mod

Modifiers window

Redesigned, because you should not have to guess what a two-letter badge does.

  • MOD CARDS: name only ⇒ every mod explains what it does on the card itself
  • SCORE MULTIPLIER: buried in the layout ⇒ its own meter, with the ranked state beside it
  • NIGHTCORE / DAYCORE: now show which step they are on
  • NEW: one button clears every mod at once

SONG SELECTION, REBUILT

  • NAVIGATION BAR: slimmer, out of the way of the art
  • CARDS: rounded, and now reflecting off the surface below them
  • SELECTED BEATMAP: an amber glow, so you always know where you are
  • ARTWORK: cropped and stretched ⇒ fills the screen intact
  • TITLE, DIFFICULTY AND VERSION: a soft shadow carries them over any cover

Filter bar

  • MODE, GROUP AND SORT: three separate trips ⇒ one row, straight over the art
  • BEATMAP COUNT: now sits under the search box, so you can see what your search left you

INTO THE SONG

  • CAMERA ENTRANCE: always the same one ⇒ one of three
  • PAUSE SCREEN: now tells you which beatmap you are in — cover, difficulty, title, artist, keys, rating, BPM and mapper
  • IN-GAME LEADERBOARD: on screen and empty from the first frame ⇒ slides in after the camera entrance

PERFORMANCE

The part of this patch you will feel before you read about it.

  • BEATMAP LIBRARY: re-read on every launch ⇒ read once and remembered between launches
  • UNCHANGED LIBRARY: several seconds to open ⇒ a fraction of a second
  • SONG DECODING: every time ⇒ once
  • COVER ART: reloaded constantly ⇒ cached, and loaded at the resolution your screen actually needs, so cards stay sharp on large monitors
  • ENTERING A SONG: about two seconds quicker
  • BEATMAP PARSING: on press ⇒ before you press, so starting a song no longer waits on the file
  • LOADING SCREEN: a fixed wait ⇒ lifts when the game is actually running smoothly

HOME, FEATURED AND STORE

  • HOME COUNTERS: now show your real Lynium Points and the likes your beatmaps have collected — and both open the store
  • STORE ICONS: Lynium Points and contribution points shared one icon ⇒ each has its own
  • FEATURED BEATMAPS: now say when they were uploaded and whether you already have them
  • CLICKING A FEATURED CARD: plays it if you have it, or takes you to the download if you do not

BEATMAP EDITOR

  • BEAT NUMBERS: 1 2 3 4 down the side of the playfield, so you can place to the bar instead of counting it
  • TEST PLAY: forced a save ⇒ save and test, or test without saving and come back to your work exactly as you left it

BUGFIXES

  • Usernames with special characters are displayed correctly again.
  • Liking a beatmap from the song list now actually reaches the server. Before, only the like given at the end of a play counted.
  • Escape pauses again, and closes whatever panel is on top before it touches the pause menu.
  • Beatmaps with no cover art no longer show as a blank card, and the cover no longer turns white when you confirm a song.
  • The playfield is no longer washed out in the released build.
  • The background artwork no longer swings in, no longer fades in twice, and no longer reloads when you switch between difficulties of the same song.
  • Beatmap cards no longer stay stuck at the selected size.
  • Featured cards no longer say "Just uploaded" over a beatmap from months ago.
  • The fifth row of the in-game leaderboard is no longer cut off.
  • The filters in the beatmap browser can be clicked now, not just opened.
  • Editor: break markers no longer wash out the spectrum, and they respect 7K layouts.
  • Fixed the errors that appeared when leaving a song.

The skin editor grew a search box, three switches for the sparks, and a proper override for what a hold looks like under your finger. And the playfield can be emptied of everything that is not the chart. LONG NOTES, DRAWN PROPERLY On the field A head, a body that tiles up from the tail, and a tail.
