Major update

Demo Update: A New Cockpit and Richer Terrain

Void Cargo: Equilibrium · published

This may be the last major update for the Void Cargo: Equilibrium demo before launch. Smaller fixes may still follow, but after a lot of work the next major destination is the full game.

Existing save files remain compatible with this update.

New 3D Cockpit

The new optional low-poly cockpit replaces the flat flight instruments with a physical interior built around the same flight information.

I recommend you finish the tutorial in the default, 2D HUD before enabling the 3D Cockpit - the tutorial is more tuned towards the original 2D HUD.

  • A forward HUD glass, navigation monitor, persistent terminal, side consoles, and combined docking-camera and landing-envelope display keep essential information inside the cockpit.

  • Flight warnings and tutorial guidance remain clearly visible as screen overlays.

  • Switch between the classic HUD and 3D cockpit in the Graphics menu, or use the rebindable Cockpit View control. Your choice is saved.

More Detailed Terrain and Water

Terrain rendering has received a major visual pass. New surface detail adds grain, rock relief, roughness, broad curvature, weathering, and stronger terrain shadows without losing distant visibility.

Alien water has also been rebuilt with animated surface movement, layered reflections, sun glints, depth coloring, and more natural transitions along the shoreline.

More Forgiving Pad Landings

Marked landing pads now give pilots more room to recover from an imperfect touchdown.

  • A live landing-envelope display shows horizontal and vertical speed near the selected pad.

  • Touchdowns at or below 5 m/s vertically and 15 m/s horizontally remain completely safe.

  • Faster pad impacts now damage ship systems instead of immediately destroying the ship.

  • Terrain, water, and structure collisions remain lethal.

Clearer Cockpit, HUD, and Save Slots

  • Flight instruments, cargo information, warnings, and cockpit displays are easier to read.

  • Alerts for hazards, damaged systems, and required actions now share a clearer presentation.

  • Occupied save slots show the current map, credits, Clearance Points, unlocked-map progress, and last-saved time before loading.

  • Maps are presented in a clearer progression order.

Thank you to everyone who has played the demo and shared feedback. It has helped shape Void Cargo: Equilibrium into a much clearer and stronger experience.

The next major destination is launch.

Safe flying.
