Palettopia Playtest · published · build 24324901
A huge thank you to everyone who has jumped into the Palettopia Beta Playtest since we opened the doors on the 16th! We’re thrilled with the feedback and bug reports you’ve shared with us so far.
We’ve put together a round of immediate fixes, tweaks, and polish updates based on your initial responses. For suggestions that require a bit more dev time, rest assured we’re taking note - we’re working on integrating those larger ideas into future builds and look forward to showcasing them when Puzzle Mode becomes available in an upcoming playtest!
Here is what we've updated in this patch:
Reworked Tutorial Flow: Restructured step sequences, moving camera controls to the front, and fixed camera transition notifications to make onboarding feel smoother.
Simplified Tutorial Map: Added a smaller, simplified tutorial layout (fewer lakes and a single river) to help new players learn the mechanics without visual clutter.
UI & Visual Tweaks: Updated the "Start Tutorial" button styling, inline help icons, wording, and end-of-tutorial completion notifications.
Navigation Smoothness: Fixed an issue where completing the tutorial didn't transition directly into the New Map panel.
Rebuilt Tooltip System: Overhauled the tooltip system under the hood, fixing auto-resizing bugs and updating tooltips across District, New Map, and Settings menus.
Comprehensive Settings Descriptions: Added detailed, multi-line tooltips for the options in the Settings menu to help clarify technical choices at a glance.
Upscaler Settings Adjustment: Upscaling now defaults to Off for new players to ensure better out-of-the-box compatibility. Also fixed a bug where upscale settings were incorrectly binding to individual map saves.
Expanded Display Options: Unlocked the full range for Gamma settings in the graphics options.
Creative Mode District Lighting: Enabled Utility Light passthrough across all districts in Creative Mode. Now a single Utility district can light up your entire city.
Audio Rebalance: Toned down ambient wind static noise, lowered default music volume slightly, and boosted music bass for a warmer mix.
Save Data Integrity: Resolved a null-reference condition in the save system (DataSaver) when clearing or resetting save files.
Clean-up & Performance: Removed leftover debug notifications, fixed missing script errors from deleted components, and applied general build optimizations.
Thank you again for building, testing, and sharing your feedback with us! Keep your thoughts coming in the Discord, and stay tuned for updates on Puzzle Mode!
