PLAYTEST WINDOW CONFIRMED

Halcyon Energy is pleased to announce that recruitment for the open playtest is now imminent.

Shift window (US Pacific):
Opens — Friday 24 July, 12:00am
Closes — Sunday 26 July, 11:59pm

Since your last shift, conditions have deteriorated. Fires now spread. Plant-wide blackouts occur. Radiation backflows through open doors. Halcyon trusts you will adapt accordingly.

The playtest will be the full game. Not a stripped slice. Every system, every fault, every cascade. The feedback I need depends on people experiencing the whole thing falling apart at once, and a trimmed build would give me trimmed feedback.

Where development stands:

Since the last update, the UI work is complete. Menus and player HUD are done (for now). The tutorial is also complete, which was the key milestone, because there are systems in this plant that genuinely need explaining before a technician is dropped into the chaos.

What remains is balancing. That's the work between now and the window opening: tuning fault frequency, difficulty escalation, and ensuring that a crew of one is possible while a crew of four is considerably better.

So far with 4 players, I have not been able to beat my own game, so balancing is a must. Below is a picture of two downed players being revived during my last closed playtest.

Summary:

  1. UI work (menus and player HUD) — complete

  2. Tutorial — complete

  3. Game balancing — in progress

Access details will follow closer to the date. Technicians wishing to be notified should ensure they are wishlisted.

Thank you for your continued service.
