Archaeology

While testing the game, the archaeology branch was honestly a bit sad to look at. Everything else kept growing, while archaeology literally stayed stuck in the Stone Age. That is why the following adjustments were made to better fit the current state of Onyx. These adjustments also create a nice little loop to finally bring the requested dinos into the game ha.

  • In larger regions excluding caves, there is now a chance around fifty percent upon entry that a relic will spawn somewhere in the area.

  • Relics can be tracked down using a resonance tool like a dowsing rod or a tuning fork.

  • If a relic is within range, its position can be pinpointed via frequency feedback to indicate where to dig.

  • Unearthing relics increases the Archaeology skill.

  • The archaeologist has received another quest where a tuning fork is given as a reward.

  • A new archaeology quest called Fossils unlocks after handing a relic to the archaeologist, giving the recipe for an Onyx Genesis Chamber as a reward.

New

  • Dowsing Rod and Tuning Fork
Can be used to track down relics. The recipe for the dowsing rod as well as the rod itself can now be purchased from the archaeologist. Additionally, the tuning fork is available for purchase there too.

  • Relics
Can contain either a chest with valuable loot or fossils.

  • Onyx Genesis Chamber
A device that can create something new or living out of remains.
For example, placing enough fossils of a specific animal inside allows you to bring that creature back to life.

  • Dodos
The complete package has been added, featuring breeding, twins, triplets, colors, children, females, males, and eggs.

  • Notes
Certain notes placed in houses or other locations can now be read.

  • Invisibility Potion
The recipe is unlocked at 60 reputation with the Forest Witch.
Crafting requires ghost essences, dropped by ghosts during Ghost Night.

Minestra

To make sure the village can take full advantage of all the new features, Minestra has received a general update.

  • The residents of Minestra have discovered trash cans.
Every now and then, rummaging through one can’t hurt.

  • 5 new tracks now play exclusively in Minestra.

  • Slightly adjusted the positions of certain locations.

  • Added new decorative and interactive objects.

  • Visual upgrades applied to multiple objects.

  • Expanded the residential district.

  • General tweaks and improvements across the board.

Gamepad

  • The archaeology window can now also be controlled with a gamepad.

Multi-Topic Dialogues

  • To keep the dialogue window clean and uncluttered, certain conversation topics are now bundled into a single dialogue.

Improvements

  • The craftable trash can has been upgraded.

  • Looks of the dirty objects has been improved.

  • The Magus plant has been changed to Wildleaf.

  • Buff effect cooldowns are now also displayed in the buff bar.

  • Updated drop system for openable and diggable items to guarantee 1–3 items.

  • Various performance improvements across different areas.

  • The audio system can now also play region-specific songs.

Fixes

  • Fixed a bug that caused some dropped items to spawn with an amount of 0.

  • Fixed a bug causing UI glitches when moving inventory items.

  • Fixed occasional minor lags when selling items in a shop.
