As cool as it would be to release a new patch every night, some things take more than a day to get right. Instead, I'd like to share what we spent the day working on in screenshot form- The AutoMap System!
This is a shot of Patricia using the AutoMap to get a reading of Ruin 1F. Her use of this wrist-projected map can be seen in the game's opening, and we're happy to finally get it into the game as a usable mechanic. This will make exploration of the Ruin a much smoother experience, and should hopefully go a ways to explaining why we felt comfortable making the first few floors so dang large in the first place.
The wireframe map hovers in 3D space, and it can be panned and rotated freely to get the best view of the environment. The game doesn't pause while you look at the map, so take care when you choose to open it up! It shows Patricia's position by default, and Auto-Bolt will be able to upgrade your map projector to show Treasure Chests, elevators up and down, hidden shortcuts, and more.
When the AutoMap System is patched in it will work automatically, but at some point in the game's future the AutoMap will require that you find or sometimes purchase each floor's Map Data item first. The early floors will likely just be given to you as a part of story progression. Another note is that we're looking into adjusting the wireframe shader so that it fills in the map with some amount of color to make it a bit easier to read than what you see here.
As always, I can't thank you all enough for picking the game up and helping us make it awesome. We'd be out of our depth without your feedback!
