Greetings Excavouters!
This is Mark speaking, Team Leader of the Yasmar City Construction Crew.
Today we are launching The Windzen Legend into Early Access after nine months of work. For reference, we spent nine months on the entire development cycle of our last game The Windzen Hero, so to say that this has been a big undertaking for us would be putting it mildly. To be honest, we're shooting for the stars and moving way outside of our comfort zone to create the type of game that we feel the world should have more of.
So what's in the game right now?
You can play from the Intro Stage to the bottom of the Ruin's first floor. Power up the Gatler Gun underground and find items that you'll later use for building Sub-Weapons. You can explore Yasmar City and speak with the Construction Crew putting it together, along with a few of the finished NPCs wandering the streets. Mina, working at Back Alley Salvage in the Living District, will sell you new Gatler Parts for the Zonna Refractors that you find underground.
Of course, the game has only just entered Early Access, so we won't pretend that there's more here right now than a solid foundation. Consider it a "Vertical Slice" of what the finished game will be. A lot of elements need polish and added detail. You'll find a lot of my Construction Crew along the way, so don't hesitate to say hello. They'll let you know what the plan is for the area they're stationed in once it's complete.
So what's the plan from here?
The Windzen Legend will receive monthly updates. On the first of every month, the game will be updated with both more content and improvements to the content put out the month prior. That doesn't mean bug fixes will only come on a monthly basis. We'll get to work on fixing bugs as soon as they're reported and update the game with fixes on a regular basis outside of the monthly content updates.
We're aiming to add a new Ruin floor to comb and a brand new Balkin enemy to go with it each update. Every second floor of the Ruin has a SubGate, a bigger dungeon themed around keys, locked doors, traps and other hazards. They'll come with that month's Ruin Floor update. There will be ten Ruin floors and four SubGates in total.
The extra focus of the monthly content updates will depend on you! There are numerous ways that the game can grow. If you like the Ruin more than Pirate battles and NPC questlines, then that's what we'll focus on that month in addition to the new Ruin floor and Balkin. If you want side content like mini-games more than new Sub-Weapons, then that will get our extra attention.
Ultimately, content updates will come in the form of:
New Ruin Floors
New Areas on the Surface
Improvements and Updates to Previously Released Content, Based on Your Feedback.
New Pirate Battles on the Surface
New Sub-Weapons
New SubGate Dungeons
New Balkin Machines
New Mini-Games
New City Interiors
New NPC Questline Chapters
We really hope you enjoy the game and let us know what type of content you want added or improved! I'll be popping in here and there between monthly updates to show off what's being worked on. If we miss our completion deadline, my boss will kill me, so we plan to have this whole thing completed in one year's time. We'll see you there every step of the way!
Signed,
Mark - Team Leader of the Yasmar City Construction Crew.
