Vibin' & Survivin' — v0.32.0 - Kinetic Arsenal, Visuals & Audio Expansion

Released 2026-09-11Welcome to v0.32.0, the Kinetic Arsenal, Visuals & Audio Expansion! This massive milestone update delivers tactile kinetic reworks across the arsenal (drop-pod impacts, aeromechanical banking, laser targeting, 3-hit sword combos, and bullet reflection), vibrant cel-shaded weapon art, procedural shockwaves for landmines and rockets, tab-out background audio suspension, dedicated mid-game soundtrack tiers, a full procedural audio suite for lightning weapons, and a complete structural overhaul of all Chaos Rounds (Rounds 5, 10 & 15).

Highlights

  • Kinetic Arsenal & Visual Overhaul: Complete tactile reworks for Auto-Turret (drop-pod impacts, sliding barrel recoil, supersonic tracers), Drone Commander (aeromechanical banking, thruster plumes, laser targeting), Laser Sword (3-hit martial combo, bullet vaporization & reflection), and Energy Beam (rotational inertia).

  • Chaos Rounds Overhaul (Rounds 5, 10 & 15): Complete structural reworks across all three Chaos encounters: fast Data Uplink beacon captures and kinetic relief waves on Round 5, the high-tempo Glitch Hunt gauntlet on Round 10, and dual-phase Destructible Quantum Portals on Round 15, all featuring 4 progressive rank tiers, drop-pod fanfare ceremonies, and unified anomaly telemetry HUD tracking.

  • Cel-Shaded Weapon Art & Layered Upgrades: Refreshed primary weapon icons across the entire arsenal with vibrant cel-shaded illustrations, alongside an additive layered visual system for placed Landmines and dramatic procedural shockwaves.

  • Soundtrack & Audio Upgrades: Dedicated background music tracks for Rounds 6–9 gameplay and boss fights, tab-out background audio suspension, in-pause music toggling via controller (Y), and a comprehensive procedural audio suite for lightning weaponry.

Chaos Rounds Overhaul (Rounds 5, 10 & 15)

  • Round 5 ("Glitch Horizon" -> Data Uplink Beacon Capture): Streamlined beacon upload time from 3.5s to 2.5s for a high-tempo capture loop across Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum tiers. Active beacon zones guarantee 100% ground hazard exclusion, render over weapon ground AOEs with high-contrast dark backdrops, feature ascending upload chirps (540 Hz to 1160 Hz) building rising tension, detonate a massive 260px kinetic relief blast wave on completion, and conclude with the heavy Data Vault drop pod delivery ceremony.

  • Round 10 ("The Glitch Hunt Anomaly"): Overhauled Round 10 into an adrenaline-fueled 60-second hunt against continuous swarms of Corrupted Glitch Hoppers and escort drones. Slaying anomaly targets builds rank progress toward Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum tiers, culminating in the central Bounty Pod landing that detonates in a radial shower of gold, chests, and rare gear.

  • Round 15 ("Split Dimensions" -> Destructible Quantum Portals): Replaced static hold-to-seal nodes with targetable destructible quantum portal entities (550 HP) complete with floating health bars and weapon auto-targeting. Portals utilize dual-phase dimensional shielding (Cyan Prime vs. Violet Void), periodic mob spawners, and high-impact implosive relief shockwaves on destruction, concluding with the Quantum Singularity Cache drop pod.

  • Unified Anomaly Telemetry HUD: Upgraded the on-screen anomaly interface into a universal tracker that dynamically switches visual themes and metrics per encounter: warm amber for Data Uplink beacons, neon crimson for Glitch Hunt kills, and cosmic violet for Quantum Portals destroyed.

  • Inverted Controls Elimination: Completely eliminated all legacy control inversion mechanics from Round 15 Split Dimensions for responsive, skill-based evasion.

New Content

  • Rounds 6–9 Gameplay & Boss BGM: Added dedicated music tracks (bgm_round6-9.ogg and bgm_boss6-9.ogg) that dynamically activate during mid-game waves and boss encounters with seamless crossfading.

  • Cel-Shaded Weapon Art: Replaced 12 primary weapon icons with modernized cel-shaded illustrations featuring bold ink outlines, dynamic perspective, and vibrant cyberpunk coloring, plus new Level 20 milestone icons for Thousand Cuts and Toxic Hemorrhage.

  • Landmines Additive Layered Visuals: Placed landmines visually reflect each upgrade milestone immediately upon placement: Level 5 delivery chassis (octagonal sensor plate vs. directional claymore wedge), Level 10 status (shrapnel teeth vs. AP penetrator studs), Level 15 subsystems (hydraulic thumper vs. holographic beacon mast), and Level 20 ultimates (carbon matrix grid vs. colossal thermobaric reactor).

  • Procedural Explosion Shockwaves: Landmine detonations, Rocket Swarm impacts, Auto-Turret explosive rounds, and Electro-Bolt static discharges trigger dedicated Canvas2D procedural shockwaves matching lethal blast radii with zero live shadowBlur.

  • Static Discharge Visual EMP Shockwave: Electro-Bolt (Choice 15B) and Blaster (Choice 15B) now trigger an expanding radial ionization core with multi-layered cyan wavefront rings, 8 branching electric arcs, and 16 static sparks.

  • Dynamic 4K UI Layer Scaling: Virtual viewport layer scaling ensures crisp, uniform interface presentation from handheld Steam Deck (1280x800) to 4K displays (3840x2160) without text clipping, backed by a manual UI Scale slider in Settings.

  • Interactive Wiki Codex Hub: Published rich player guides on the official game wiki covering Survivor Mastery Trees, the Vibe Bazaar & Gear Gambling, and Round Wagers, while keeping the secret survivor "The Big Cheese" hidden from spoilers.

Weapon Kinetic Reworks

  • Drone Commander: Drones bank and tilt smoothly into their orbital trajectory (+/-15 degrees), emit animated flickering ion thruster plumes from their nacelles, kick back with mechanical recoil when firing, and project collimated laser sight telegraphs toward acquired targets with procedural chirping audio.

  • Auto-Turret: Deployed sentries slam down from altitude in heavy kinetic drop-pods with radial dust shockwaves and hydraulic locking audio. Firing drives sliding mechanical barrel recoil kickback, starburst muzzle flashes, and spent brass casings, launching supersonic tungsten tracer rounds with luminous slipstreams.

  • Laser Sword: Replaced the single repetitive swipe with a 3-hit combo sequence (Forehand Slash, Backhand Return, and an extended 160px Lunging Finisher). All swings vaporize incoming enemy projectiles, while the heavy finisher repels bullets back toward hostiles with boosted speed and damage.

  • Energy Beam: Added weighty rotational inertia and forward-cone bias to the channeled energy beam, alongside cyberpunk 20-level milestone tech (Focal Core, Prismatic Sweep with 1.5x cleave, Thermal Bloom, Plasma Vanguard) and concussive procedural audio.

  • Dagger Fan: Replaced wooden daggers with tapered hard-light energy blades thrown in tight, rapid two-volley flurries with dense angular spacing, violet shurikens on Path B, and distinct motion trails.

Balance & Tuning

  • Rocket Swarm: Base impact damage increased from 20 -> 50. Napalm Trails (Choice 10B) now dynamically deal 20% of rocket impact damage per second. Mini Nuke crater napalm capped at base rocket damage.

  • Auto-Turret: Base damage increased from 10 -> 15 (+50% early punch), with smoothed level scaling reaching 50 damage at Level 20 (down from 70 to preserve endgame network balance).

  • Dagger Fan Level 20 Capstones:

    • Thousand Cuts (Choice 20A): Landing hits builds Stacking Momentum up to 25 stacks (+2% cast speed per stack, up to -50% cooldown). At 25 stacks, launches 4 bonus piercing silver phantom blades with ethereal silver vapor trails.

    • Toxic Hemorrhage (Choice 20B): Every 3 hits on poisoned or bleeding targets triggers a violent Rupture explosion, detonating all remaining DoT damage and spreading afflictions to surrounding enemies.

  • Level 20 Capstone Parity: Retuned flat multiplier and triggered capstones across Energy Beam (+70%), Meteor Strike (+60%), and Rocket Swarm (+60%) to land within ~1.5x of each other.

  • Electro-Bolt: Chain Lightning hops now ramp in damage with each bounce (+15% per hop) and fold back into single durable targets when no other enemies are in range.

  • Laser Sword Level 5 Wide Arc: Removed the -15% damage penalty from Path A, turning Wide Arc into a pure crowd-control and defensive upgrade.

  • DPS Metric Accuracy: HUD tooltips and shop cards now calculate DPS across full projectile volleys rather than a single projectile.

  • Glitch Apocalypse Chaos Wager: Appearance weight in Chaos pool reduced from 1.0 -> 0.20 (~5x rarer) with once-per-run gating; chest gold tuned from 100 -> 20 coins, and kill XP tuned from 100 -> 20 XP for balanced, exciting payouts.

Audio & Quality of Life

  • Electrobolt Comprehensive Procedural Audio Suite: Redesigned lightning audio from scratch with high-voltage transient snaps, dual-tonal forked crackles, cascading pitch-shifting chain bounce chirps, static orb plasma vibrato hums, and booming lightning storm sky thunderclaps.

  • Pause Screen Music Mute Toggle: Added a music mute toggle button with controller (Y) button shortcut to the pause menu, fully synchronized with the home screen button.

  • Canvas2D Render Optimizations: Completely eliminated live ctx.shadowBlur assignments from sentry turrets, drones, landmines, decoys (dashed lure ring and holographic survivor baking), and shockwaves, replacing expensive blur passes with pre-baked sprites and O(1) multi-layer vector strokes.

  • MMO Buff Bar Integration: Thousand Cuts Stacking Momentum now surfaces live stack counts, decay timer readouts, and cap indicators on desktop and mobile HUD buff bars.

  • Victory/Defeat Screen Unified Scroll: Merged Weapon Breakdown and Enemy Kills on Column 2 into a single unified scroll container with smooth gamepad right-stick scrolling.

  • Audio Headroom & Throttling: Added SFX throttle guards for rapid-fire turret explosions, landmine detonations, tesla arcing, and high-frequency weapon triggers to prevent audio distortion.

  • Marketing Site Patch Notes Window: Updated the website release notes feed to showcase the last 5 major expansions plus all subsequent minor updates in chronological order.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed background audio continuing to play when tabbing out or minimizing the application; file-backed BGM tracks and Web Audio synthesizers now pause immediately and resume cleanly upon return.

  • Fixed floating combat text color on fire pools, napalm, and flamethrower ticks to display in burning orange (#f97316) rather than mismatched toxic green.

  • Fixed damage-over-time attribution: Poison, Bleed, and Singularity collapse damage are now properly attributed to their parent weapons in combat telemetry and post-run scorecards.

  • Fixed Electro-Bolt's Lightning Storm dealing ~15x intended damage due to an incorrect baseline multiplier reference.

  • Fixed Dagger Fan's Thousand Cuts post-fire cooldown resetting to base duration instead of accelerating with active momentum stacks.

  • Fixed crash when applying status effects to non-standard enemy entities by adding robust duck-typing checks.

  • Fixed top-of-screen boss health bars overlapping active chaos round objective HUDs by adding dynamic vertical offset transitions.

  • Fixed runaway cascading micro-dagger bursts on Dagger Fan execute kills by enforcing a strict recursion chain cap.

  • Fixed stuck mouse hover highlights when switching to gamepad controls by suppressing hover styling during controller input.

  • Fixed Survivor Tree nodes and roots lacking high-contrast cyan controller focus borders during gamepad navigation.

  • Fixed upgrade carousel tabs shifting off-center during controller navigation on maxed-out weapons.

  • Fixed Boomerang Split Horizons projectiles diverging into empty space when targeting lone distant enemies.

  • Fixed Singularity black hole subsystem timers so orbital accretion jets fire reliably on schedule.

  • Fixed hazard tiles spawning directly over active Data Uplink beacon capture zones during Round 5.

  • Fixed legacy control inversion causing confusing camera and movement flips during Round 15 Split Dimensions.
