Vibin' & Survivin' — v0.31.0

Released 2026-09-05Welcome to the Dopamine, Animations & Balance Expansion! This update is all about elevating player feedback, visual juice, and game feel across every encounter. We've overhauled level-up sequences, weapon milestone choices, survival moments, and combat power-ups with upgraded animations, tactile hitstop, screen shake, and richer sound effects. Alongside these feel-good improvements, this update introduces high-stakes Round Wagers, the Vibe Bazaar Gear Gambling terminal, the redesigned 8-stat Overclock Nexus, an expanded background music system, and deep balance tuning across weapons, difficulties, and enemy swarms.

New Features

  • The Vibe Bazaar: Gear Gambling: A new high-roller terminal in the Bazaar lets you wager gold on mystery gear with boosted item levels, complete with 3D card reveals and Empower progression.

  • Round Wagers & Contracts: High-stakes anomaly trials appear roughly 1 in 3 rounds with bad-luck protection, offering exciting contract challenges (like No-Dash trials and kill quotas) with big reward payouts and a live in-round tracker.

  • In-Game Level Up Juice: Leveling up during combat feels vastly more rewarding with a dramatic energy pillar animation, rising sparks, tactile impact pause, screen shake, and upgraded fanfare for better player feedback and feel.

  • Weapon Milestone Choices: Reaching major weapon milestones (Levels 5, 10, 15, and 20) now features an epic card power-up animation with the chosen upgrade gliding to the center with radiant neon glow and an ultimate resonance climax at Level 20.

  • Last Chance Survival: Surviving lethal defeat now triggers a dramatic 3-second recovery window with an accelerating heartbeat sound, pulsing crimson border, and dynamic music ducking giving you a fighting chance to turn the run around.

  • Guardian Holy Smites & Bulwark: Guardian abilities now feature dazzling visual and audio feedback, including descending celestial light pillars and crackling lightning on Holy Smites, plus locking hydraulic pylon animations when anchoring.

  • Vibe Nuke Detonation: Collecting a Vibe Nuke now delivers a screen-clearing explosion with an earth-shaking sub-bass boom, blinding flash, and outward shockwaves that disintegrate normal swarms and stun bosses.

  • Cinematic Cyber Roll Credits: A retro-cyber upward credits roll celebrating the game's soundtrack, partners, and community, featuring an authentic live battle simulation raging behind the text with all 5 survivor hulls.

  • Overclock Nexus: 8-Stat Console: Redesigned into a high-octane cyber command console with 8 endgame stats, multi-buy spending (1x, 5x, 10x), rapid-fire purchasing, and stat cap safeguards.

  • Background Music System: Dedicated background music tracks now play across the Main Menu, Vibe Bazaar, early combat rounds, and boss encounters, with smooth crossfading and pause menu ducking.

Changes & Improvements

  • Achievements & Stats Screen Redesign: Modern two-column layout with a dynamic category sidebar, uniform button heights, right-aligned progress pills, and rock-solid locked height that eliminates vertical bouncing.

  • Redesigned Blaster Icon: Replaced the legacy icon with a crisp, unmistakable sci-fi energy pistol vector silhouette across all menus.

  • Guardian Vibe Shield Overhaul: Re-engineered into an active kinetic barrier where each orb withstands multiple direct hits before popping, backed by quick staggered regeneration, amber durability warnings, and repulse bursts.

  • Bazaar Shop Polish & Reroll: Rerolling shop items now features a slick cyber glitch transition with fresh card deals, while locked items stay pinned with an electric-blue pulse.

  • Bazaar Portal Visibility: Added a dark contrast backdrop and vertical cyber beacon beam to ensure the shop portal is always easy to spot in busy arenas.

  • Single-Row Survivor Dock: Character select dynamically fits survivor cards onto a single unified row across Desktop PC, Steam Deck, and mobile devices without awkward wrapping.

  • Visual Accessibility & Transparency Slider: Weapon projectiles, beams, rocket trails, and particle bursts now cleanly scale with the Effect Transparency slider down to 10% opacity.

  • Dynamic Fire & Acid Visuals: Fire pools feature dynamic swaying flame tongues and rising embers, while acid pools feature expanding toxic gas clouds and rising bubbles.

  • Mobile HUD Controller Dash Indicator: Added a dedicated dash cooldown indicator for Android players using a gamepad.

  • Tutorial Controls Navigation: Added smooth Right Analog Stick scrolling and inline gamepad button prompts to tutorial dialogs.

Balance & Tuning

  • Round Wager Pacing & Protection: Wagers now appear roughly 1 in 3 rounds so they feel like special events rather than constant interruptions, with bad-luck protection guaranteeing an offer after 2 dry rounds.

  • Chain Reaction Wager Scaling: Upgraded enemy death explosions with scaling damage that remains effective against tanky swarms in later rounds, along with player safety throttling.

  • Enemy XP & Spawn Pacing: Rebalanced kill XP across standard swarms and boosted high-threat target rewards to match higher enemy density, backed by accelerated early-round spawn pacing.

  • Round 1 Warmup Wave: Spawns an immediate warmup enemy pack at the start of Round 1, cutting out early idle waiting time.

  • Difficulty Multipliers & Dual Bosses: Overdrive and System Overload offer steeper endgame challenge with faster, tougher swarms, and System Overload introduces a dramatic dual-boss wave at 30 seconds.

  • Weapon Cooldown Reduction Cap: Added a 60% global cooldown reduction cap to prevent game-breaking machine-gun loops.

  • Weapon Buffs & Reworks:

    • MIRV Launcher: Secondary submunitions fly faster, travel significantly farther, and track distant targets more aggressively with distinct impact audio.

    • Acid Pool: Raised primary pool cap to 10, reworked Vortex Lob into a wide toxic gas cloud, and added damage guards so multiple overlapping pools expand coverage without double-ticking damage.

    • Flamethrower: Added a Building Heat mechanic that ramps up burn damage on sustained targets, and widened the nozzle range.

    • Flash Bang: Doubled base damage to give this utility weapon more bite.

    • Kamehameha: Twin-Linked Omega Beams now actively auto-target two distinct enemies or focus a single target for double damage instead of sweeping empty space.

Bug Fixes

  • Guardian Holy Smites: Fixed an issue where Holy Smites could starve and fail to trigger while moving; it now strikes immediately whenever an enemy enters the aura.

  • Vibe Shield Balance Tuning: Cooldown adjustments in balance tools now properly apply to in-game shield recharge rates.

  • Menu Animation Protection: Controller inputs during card selection power-up animations no longer interrupt or break card cinematics.

  • Achievements Gamepad Navigation: Restored gamepad D-pad traversal, bumper tab switching, and stick scrolling in the Achievements screen.

  • Touchscreen Button Sounds: Fixed interactive buttons failing to play confirmation sounds on mobile touchscreens.

  • Glitch Apocalypse Spawner: Fixed the Glitch Apocalypse wager to consistently spawn Glitch Hopper swarms with bonus chests.

  • Round Wager Fixes: Excluded incompatible horde wagers from special challenge rounds, and fixed floor hazard damage multipliers.

  • Back Navigation: Pressing Escape or the controller back button on Survivor Select cleanly returns to the home screen.

  • Shop Item Locking: Decoupled item locking into an independent button so you can lock affordable items without accidentally buying them.

  • Benchmark Lockout: Stress-test benchmark runs no longer alter player save files, high scores, or achievement progress.

  • Arena Cleanup: Round floor hazards persist until all active enemies are defeated, then clear cleanly when the Bazaar portal opens.
