Hello, inmates.
You asked for it.
We deliver.
That update adds more QoL, more features, more speed, more danger and more bugs.
Added a Quicksave feature. Quit whenever you want ; get back later into your game without losing progress. The quicksave is destroyed on load since the "Log save" remains the only reliable way to save progress if you die.
Added a Reload last save option to the Game Over menu. Note : if your save file is older than this update, the game will inform you that it'll load the save in the first slot
Added a new Settings menu. You can now adjust the sounds and musics, rebind your keyboard keys/controller buttons and change the resolution. Finally, Worddammit!
Audio is now set at 50% by default (that one is for everyone I've made deaf from the New Game loud piano sound)
Added a hold-to-repeat feature to menus and choiceboxes (just hold a direction to quickly scroll a list)
Centralized music playback into a new music system. Doesn't change a thing as is, but should prevent further bugs around music and sounds.
Battle pacing sped up : combat is now way faster than before. Feedback is welcome as always
The Suspicious Convict is now fightable! Beware, he is stronger than Eastwing's convicts (you'll probably need the Dog)
Integrated the Alterations (bleeding/poisoned/plague/blight) in Battle, each one having its own cool animation
The Smoke Bomb now makes you escape any Battle
Every fightable NPC in the game can now be escaped in battle, including the Foul Convict and the Weird Convict
The Quiet trait now reduces enemy detection range by 15%. Could be buffed in further updates
Added a whole new dialogue branch if you give Ézéchiel 2 oil flasks
Removed the safe zone from the Wordlock's office : nowhere is safe now
Documents in bookshelves are now randomized
The Mad Convict won't roam Eastwing Cells anymore after the Convict Hunter is triggered
Fixed the Hidden Convict's memory loss between his two locations
Fixed overlapping textboxes when performing the Reader's prayer (... I think? At least I cannot reproduce it anymore.)
The player's light now lowers smoothly instead of snapping
Fixed a bugged animation after breaking the shackles
Fixed dead enemies' locations resetting after reload
Fixed health/pain/despair resetting to 10 when loading a save with higher values
Many dialogue, item descriptions and lore adjustments
Removed the Convict Hunter's single footstep sound when loading some maps
Fixed the crash caused when talking to Ézéchiel after freeing the Dog without recruiting him
The game Windows process now properly displays "Sin or Suffer Demo" instead of my Godot project name (^🐽^')
Added a help tooltip description while selecting Words in Battle
The "Use a log to light a fire?" question now shows your remaining log count
The demo is closing in on its final state now. Soon we'll completely focus on the full build. Further demo updates should be all about bugs and a features implemented in the full build that would make sense in the demo.
In the meantime here's a cool playthrough by the youtuber Morning! poor guy went through hell to get that oil flask
As always : THANK YOU EVERYONE. 🖤 (we mean it)
