Only two days to go until the release of the Berlin Route DLC: U4. 🚇
Over the past few days, there are two questions in particular that we've been asked again and again: How much will the DLC cost? And: How exactly do the new map DLCs work?
So today, we'd like to clear things up.
The price of the Berlin Route DLC: U4 has been confirmed:
€8.99 on all platforms.
On PC, there will also be a 15% launch discount for the first week.
Here's an overview of the prices:
Steam: €8.99 – 15% launch discount during the first week
Epic Games Store: €8.99 – 15% launch discount during the first week
PlayStation 5: €8.99
XBOX X|S: €8.99
Another topic has caused some questions and, in some cases, confusion over the past few days.
Many of you assumed that the U4 would be released as a separate map alongside the existing Berlin map. That's completely understandable, as this is how expansions are handled in many other railway train simulators.
With SubwaySim 2, however, we're taking a slightly different approach.
The U4 expands the existing Berlin map rather than being available as a separate, standalone map.
If you own the DLC, the new stations, tracks, tunnels, and route sections become part of your existing Berlin game world. This means you won't have to switch between different versions of Berlin – instead, you'll be able to experience the additional areas within the same map.
That's also the basic philosophy behind expansions like this: A city should feel like one connected game world rather than being split across several separate maps.
With the U4, we're implementing this concept for the first time. The existing Berlin map remains the foundation and is expanded by the DLC with the new route section between Innsbrucker Platz and Nollendorfplatz.
For now, we'll leave open what other possibilities this concept might bring in the future. 👀
