The time has come: Update 10 for SubwaySim 2 is now available! 🚇

After many weeks of development, testing, and polishing, we're excited to bring you one of the biggest free updates SubwaySim 2 has received so far.

With Update 10, we've worked on many different areas of the game. Alongside numerous bug fixes and stability improvements, you can expect new gameplay options, changes to Berlin and Hamburg, many vehicle improvements, and of course a feature that many of you have been waiting for: switch crossing sounds!

Many of these changes are a direct result of your feedback over the past few months.

Here's the full overview:

General

Stability & Performance

  • Crashes caused by incompatible .pak files have been fixed.

  • Incompatible or faulty .pak files are now detected when starting the game. You'll receive a notification and the affected files will not be loaded, preventing them from causing a crash.

  • Overall game stability has been further improved.

  • Additional performance optimizations, particularly on the Berlin map.

  • Console only: Random crashes/freezes on the Berlin map have been fixed.

Gameplay & Passengers

  • Passengers now react more dynamically to trains. If they are further away, they may occasionally run towards the train or move faster to try and catch it.

  • Spawn preparation time in Career Mode has been slightly increased to reduce delays at the beginning of a service.

  • When seamless timetable transitions are enabled, there is no longer a fade-out/fade-in. You can now continue driving directly without a visible transition.

  • Tasks can now largely be disabled. Essential tasks such as "Stop at platform XY" will remain active. This allows experienced players to drive with significantly fewer instructions.

New Settings

The Gameplay menu has also been reorganized and expanded with several new options:

  • Disable AI trains: AI trains can now be completely disabled.

  • More AI passengers: The number of AI passengers can now be significantly increased if desired. Please keep in mind that very high passenger numbers may affect performance.

  • Modular in-game HUD: Individual HUD elements can now be enabled or disabled separately in the Gameplay settings, allowing you to decide exactly which information you want to see while driving.

  • Preparation time in Timetable Mode: The time between spawning and the scheduled departure can now be set between 1 and 5 minutes. If you prefer having more time to prepare your train before departure, you can adjust this accordingly.

  • Console only – Crash Log: A new option has been added to the System Settings on consoles that can display a log following a crash. This information will help us identify potential issues more quickly and provide better support.

Vehicles – General

A lot has changed across the vehicle fleet as well:

  • All vehicles now feature switch crossing sounds when passing over switches.

  • All vehicles now have functional door close buttons.

  • Brake squeal can now also be heard on player-controlled vehicles.

  • Various issues with incorrect door status indications have been fixed.

Berlin

The Berlin map and its vehicles have also received numerous changes:

  • The "After the Storm" scenario can now be completed again.

  • Adjusted sounds for the HK.

  • Revised driving and braking behavior for the HK.

  • Revised MMS font for the HK.

  • The HK AFB buttons now have separate sounds for pressing and releasing.

  • The HK prototypes now feature their own unique sounds, including different door sounds and departure signals.

  • Sound adjustments for the A3L92.

  • Minor adjustments to the radio.

  • The A3L92 door buttons now illuminate slightly when door preselection is active while driving.

  • The HK now requires the controller to return to neutral if movement authority is granted after a movement command has already been given.

  • Sound adjustments for the GI/1E.

  • The AI-controlled GI/1E now also spawns on consoles.

Hamburg

Hamburg has also received a number of improvements:

  • The "Cleaning Up the Depot" scenario has been fixed. The train used in the scenario was previously too long.

  • All speed monitoring systems (GÜs) have been reviewed, adjusted, and tested again.

  • Incorrect GÜ activations have been fixed.

  • The DT5 once again has a key event for the train stop override.

  • The DT5 sound has been revised and converted to stereo, providing a more spatial and authentic sound experience, especially inside the driver's cab.

  • The AL1 has also received updated stereo sound.

Thank you for your support!

Update 10 is the result of many weeks of work and includes not only the major visible additions, but also numerous smaller adjustments and fixes behind the scenes.

A huge thank you goes out to our community and especially to all of our testers who supported us with bug reports, feedback, and extensive testing. Many of the changes included in this update were made possible thanks to your feedback.

Update 10 is available for SubwaySim 2 starting today. The download should start automatically on your platform.

And of course, development doesn't stop here. We still have plenty planned for SubwaySim 2 and will share more with you when the time is right.

For now, we hope you have a great time exploring Update 10 and, as always, enjoy the ride! 🚇
