Pirate Twist Playtest · published · build 24070385

This one is almost entirely yours — nearly every line below started as a playtest report or a Discord thread. Thank you. Nine days to Early Access; this is the build that clears the decks for it.
Finishing the tutorial no longer consumes Expedition 1. The lessons end with a proper TUTORIAL COMPLETE — then your first real expedition starts fresh, at normal difficulty, with every coin and cannonball you grabbed still aboard.
Skipping the tutorial no longer makes your campaign secretly harder. A hidden run counter was bumping enemy scaling for skippers. Found and fixed.
Achievements wait for the real thing. Tutorial kills and lessons no longer grant achievements or count toward lifetime stats — your firsts happen at sea.
Tutorial hints now point at the CODEX (Esc → CODEX) so you always know where the answers live, the chart welcome shows exactly once, and Replay Tutorial only appears once you've actually played it.
The reload bar follows your broadside. Switch sides with E and the indicator shows THAT side's guns — fire the port volley, swing starboard, and shoot without waiting on a bar that was never yours.
The lag spike on every ship kill is gone. Stat writes were hitting the disk on each sink; they're throttled now. Kills feel like kills.
Surrender flags strike the moment the ship dies — no more white flag waving over a wreck.
Loot spreads out. A kill's gold, wood and iron now fan out around the wreck as three distinct crates instead of one confusing stack.
One chest per treasure pile on the TAB chart, sized by how much it holds — and chest icons never stack on top of each other anymore.
The floating Supply Chest is half its old size, so it reads as loot, not landmark.
The campaign chest finally opens like a real chest — the open and closed art are now the same chest, so the lid rises and nothing jumps.
The +1 Cannon card explains what it does, Lucky Treasure picks announce what you got, the captain picker got a cleanup pass (color-matched names, no dead ends), and dozens of small UI inconsistencies were swept.
This entire patch came out of playtest reports and Discord threads — if you want your fix in the next one, that's where it starts. More updates coming soon!
