How West Clement Was Kinda Won will now release in 2027/2028.

Hello everyone, I'm Jesse AKA Marshmallow Ninja. The main developer, main artist, main composer of How West Clement Was Kinda Won. Unfortunately, I have some slightly bad news to share to the few that have been waiting for this game.

In the year of 2023: How West Clement Was Kinda Won started development, and at first it was meant to be a personal project that was originally supposed to be a test for RPG combat testing, but immediately grew into the first entry of the universe that has been being written since 2006.

The game was supposed to be released in this year of 2026. The anniversary of when writing started, far back 20 years ago but unfortunately the game cannot be worked on further in the current state it's in right now. The game isn't cancelled, I would never do that.

But why?

This game was made during a time where I was a much more inexperienced programmer and getting back into visual artistry after a break from 2018 to 2023. The time from beginning development of this game, to now is a massive leap in terms of the skill I have now.

Unfortunately, the current code base is extremely hard to work with due to the fact that I wasn't the best programmer that this game needed. Massive integral parts of how the game worked were shoddily programmed in 30+ hour programming binges, fueled by caffeine and typed by the hands of a person that needed much more experience.

And because of that, the game right now is extremely fragile, buggy and completely unsuitable for the player. A massive chunk of the game is finished, from the first chapter to the beginning of the finale sequence, the game is "finished." And I emphasize the term, "finished."

The game is not passable in terms of quality, not even in the slightest. The game crashes a lot due to the fact that the main game mechanics are basically running 24/7, terribly re-programmed audio modules, and much more.

I cannot continue to work on the project in the current state it is in because of this and I do not want players to experience this game in the state it is in. It would be an offense to myself personally if I would allow someone to play this travesty.

But developer guy, what are you gonna do?

The game is going to be remade from the ground up, in a brand new project file, starting back from absolute scratch because that is what this game desperately needs. Internal refactoring of plans of how the game is going to function is already complete, we just need to get to... Remaking our own game.

In this moment, I am a much, much better programmer than I was at the time and I can absolutely handle the task that is creating the game: How West Clement Was Kinda Won. This game will eventually be released and the story I have written over the past 20 years will be told, and this game will be the first stepping stone in me finally telling the world what I have been doing for decades...

Thank you for reading and I hope you understand the circumstances.

Soon enough, you will visit The Gunslinger, The Wizard, The Knight and even Violet.

Soon enough, you will be able to stop by and join the West Clement Resistance.

Soon enough, you will finally be able to see... How West Clement Was Kinda Won.

- We will return... Jesse AKA Marshmallow Ninja. June 26th, 2026
