Where is this dang beta?

A few months ago,

We announced that we were gonna do a beta test that everyone would be able to play!

So where is it?

The game is still in development as we speak, but a bunch of re-writes in code have to be done. And I mean a LOT. An entirely brand-new cutscene system, to streamline the creation of cutscenes and make it easier, had to be made... TWICE. There is also the fact that the saving and loading system might need to be re-factored, and the combat code might need to be completely re-done?!

Yeah, a lot of the stuff under the hood needs to be done. But we'll see about the whole re-factoring of 1000+ lines of code after the beta test.

It is early code and all that crap, so we'll see how the game plays via testing. We are expecting odd performance and some broken stuff, such as:

  1. Status effects not cycling properly.

Stuff like power exhaustion that grants power regeneration does not go away.

  2. Enemy AI healing your teammates (how nice of them).

A very odd issue where enemy AI likes to be quite benevolent.

  3. Combat UI having some jank.

There is an issue were the combat UI duplicates itself, but only in rare situations.

  4. Tiny memory leaks.

A memory leak is a big issue, but a lot of the data in this game is in the bytes-to-kilobytes range so playing for dozens and dozens of hours would show some issue at some point. But it still needs to be fixed.

The entire story and it's programming had to be completely re-done!

Due to the whole cutscene system crap, the entire story all the way up to the finale had to be thrown away and put back in the oven! But now, we're in the start of Chapter 2, re-adding everything.

Music! Sounds!

Almost the entirety of the soundtrack is finished, only missing one song though! The epic that is the Finale had just recently finished and it's overall length rivals that of prog rock/prog metal!
Many sound effects need to be made though, that is one thing that is lacking.

More spriting...

All of the companions are complete, most of the environment is finished, the finale needs a lot of work though!

How close is the beta?!

As soon as Chapter 2 is finished up with it's re-factoring, the beta should be available for everyone to test out. A small break was also taken due to real-life factors, but now it's picking back up.

I estimate around the end of October/beginning of November should bring in the red carpet for the beta release.

The only real, actual bad news is that the release date may need to be pushed to 2026!

But anyways, this was the little update the people need so you know that this game wasn't just abandoned all of a sudden.
We'll see you soon when the beta launches!
