🎺 Update 1.3.4 — Face the Music
Every boss in this game has spent a year fighting to a borrowed tune. Not any more. Also: an honest confession about the Additives, and a Knowledge screen that finally knows things.
🎼 Seventeen Bosses. Seventeen Themes.
- 🎻 Every single boss now has its own music — all seventeen of them, composed one at a time. Mains, alts, the event bosses and the one you're not supposed to have met yet.
- 💃 La Nonna and the Necro Chef fight in 3/4 — they get waltzes. The Pizzaiolo throws dough in 6/8.
- 🏃 The Meatrix speeds up as you break him (96 → 174 BPM), and Il Critico's theme loses its composure the angrier he gets.
- 🔥 The themes are written around the fights — the section that kicks in is the section where the boss changes phase.
🧪 About Those Additives… Thanks Clay for the name change suggestion ;)
- 😬 An honest one: none of the 15 run Additives were doing anything. Not one. They were being armed correctly, then wiped a moment before the run started — so Blackout still drew your minimap and Swarm Lord changed nothing. Every one of them works now, and there's a test that will scream if it ever happens again.
- 🧾 "Mutators" are now "Additives" — it always was a cooking game.
- 📌 Your picks stick between runs, and the character-select plaque now tells you how many are armed, so a run can never quietly start plain again.
- 🥣 Swarm Lord's description was lying too — it's 40% less HP, not less damage.
- 🎲 In co-op, a leftover solo pick can no longer sneak into everyone else's match.
📚 The Knowledge Screen Actually Knows Things
- 📝 Every discovered item card was blank. They now say what the item does — all 133 of them.
- 🖼️ Machines and shrines had an empty picture frame where the art should be. They have their art.
- 🔪 Weapon cards now show your Mastery rank and your lifetime killing blows with that weapon.
- 🌍 Names are translated properly and shrink to fit instead of getting chopped mid-word.
🍸 Two New Items
- 🍸 Martini (Rare) — "Shaken, not stirred. Steady hands, glass jaw." +12% crit chance, +50% crit damage, +6% dodge… and −12 max HP. The only Rare crit roll that pays for its edge in health.
- 🥬 Armour Cabbage (Uncommon) — "Leaf over leaf over leaf. Nothing gets past the third one." +14 armour, +10 max HP, −6% move speed. A cheap slab that costs footwork instead of integrity.
❤️ Health You Can Actually Use
- 🍞 An item that raises your max HP now hands you that health too. Buy Garlic Bread at 20/30 and you finish at 35/45 — not 20/45 with a taller empty bar. Applies everywhere: the wave shop, floor pickups, Nonna's daily grants, the Re-Cook Pot, the meatball machine.
🔒 Locked Means Locked
- 🔓 The padlock on locked achievements and wardrobe pieces could render as a meaningless box on some machines — which made locked things look earned. Fixed, and every locked entry now spells out "LOCKED — what you have to do" in words instead of trusting a tiny icon.
🔧 Fixes & Feel
- 🔥 Beam weapons now sizzle like something frying, with four alternate takes so holding the trigger doesn't machine-gun the same sound at you.
- 🛒 Nonna's shop: the two panels were overlapping and eating the RE-ROLL button. They don't any more, at any font size, UI scale or language.
- 🗿 The Kitchen Prep Board drew all ten relics as the same grey blob — each one now has its own mark and colour.
- 📜 Run history: recipe-code buttons were squashed into slivers with enormous gaps between rows.
- 🎮 Backing out of a Records screen puts you back on the row you opened, not at the top of the list.
- 🌊 Wave spawns are smoother — a big burst is now spread across a few frames instead of landing in one, so a wave dumping ten enemies at once no longer hitches on exactly the frame the swarm is busiest.
- 💾 Serving a ticket no longer writes your profile to disk in the middle of the fight.
Still on the stove: the story intro & endings are resting off-menu while we rework them, and the balance pass rolls on toward 1.0. 🍲
