Version 0.0.805 of the Draw Steel Codex is now available!
Lots of exciting news this week!
Let's start with the lead: Dark Heart of the Wood and The Red Road are now available in the Codex to MCDM Patrons. When you start the Codex after this update you will see a popup asking if you would like to link your Patreon account and your email to your Codex account. Doing so has a number of benefits we hope you will be excited about:
Just as being a member of the MCDM Patreon gives you early access to content MCDM is working on, it will now give you access to content being worked on in the Codex. As of right now, you will get access to The Red Road and The Dark Heart of the Wood adventures. These are both well polished adventures at this point, but we would love Patreon feedback on them before we put them on sale.
By sharing your email, we'll send you occasional updates about the Codex as well as promotions and gifts. You can unsubscribe at any time.
We won't share any of your details with third parties.
We have some exciting improvements and redesign of the User Interface that we are starting to trial with this update. Please turn the New Experimental UI setting on in your settings to try it out and after you've tried it in a session or to give us feedback using Feedback -> General Feedback. See this video for an overview of the new UI:
Once you import a map into the Codex, adding walls, doors, and windows, making areas as difficult terrain or water, deciding what footstep sounds play when you step somewhere -- it should all be easy! But so far it hasn't been easy enough. So we have created a new Map Markup panel which is specifically designed for doing all these things to a map you have imported, all in one easy interface. We will have a video demonstrating this new interface specifically, but we already have two videos today, and that one will wait a little!
We have have added support for custom leveling of Retainers as well as the creation of Custom Retainers. See this video for a demonstration:
Retainers now have a new leveling system which will auto calculate changes to stamina, damage, and allow for new ability choices:
Select Adjust Level in the upper right of the Retainer's character sheet
Use Left and Right arrows to adjust level up or down
Use Reset button to revert to base level
Select Builder Tab at the top of the Retainer's Character sheet
Any available choices, including new abilities and characteristic increases will be available here.
Any non-minion/solo/leader monster can be made into a Custom Retainer
Use the Adjust Level on any viable monster, and select Make Custom Retainer at the bottom • This change is PERMANENT and cannot be revert.
The Monster will have their Stamina and stats converted
You will be informed on changes made to the monster's abilities, including lessen number of targets, and removing area effects, in line with Custom Retainer rules.
Add the new Retainer to the player party and use the Hero's character sheet to assign the Retainer to them.
