Splatchinko Demo · published
I am incredibly excited to bring you Update 0.9 for the Splatchinko demo! This patch introduces massive foundational systems for the final game, completely revamps how bosses play out, and adds some gorgeous new art and animations.
Also, to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Tokyo Game Show—and the fact that I will be exhibiting Splatchinko live at Makuhari Messe this month!—I've included a special tribute inside this update. Here is everything new in version 0.9:
Boss Fights Rework: I have completely reworked the boss encounters! They are now much more dynamic and challenging.
New Ammo System: Balls now utilize an ammo system, adding a new layer of tactical depth to your turns. You can now reload your Eye ammo directly at the Shop!
Mid-Match Eye Discovery: I’ve implemented a brand-new system that allows you to find and equip new Eyes right in the middle of a match.
Longer & Balanced Map: The procedural map is now longer, giving you more time to build your run, and the overall balance of the nodes has been tweaked for a better difficulty curve.
Exploding Planets: The planets in the planetarium can now explode, rewarding you with rich prizes!
TGS 30th Anniversary Ball: I've designed and added a special ball dedicated to the Tokyo Game Show's 30th anniversary to celebrate the game's exhibition in Japan!
New Animated Intro: The game now boots up with a brand-new, fully animated introduction sequence!
More Stunning Art by Federico: Federico "Tram" Tramonte has delivered amazing new illustrations! Keep an eye out for new art for the Explosion character, the Interstellar Intercom helper, completely new Restaurants and Dishes, and the Eye Vendors.
Meta-Progression Foundation: The core baseline for the game's meta-progression is now fully in place.
In-Game Achievements (Base): I've built the foundation for the achievement system!
Video Presets & Fullscreen: Fixed the video preset toggles in the Options menu and officially implemented a proper Fullscreen function.
Revised Text: All in-game texts have been updated, revised, and polished for clarity.
Design Tools & Telemetry: Added new backend design tools and telemetry to help me track balance and improve the game based on actual run data.
Microfixes: Addressed various small gameplay bugs and interactions to make the overall experience much smoother.
Thank you all for playing and supporting the game. If you happen to be at the Tokyo Game Show, please come by the booth and say hello!
Otherwise, jump into the new update, test out the reworked bosses, and let me know what you think on the Steam forums.
Have fun,
