Major Update 0.3.0

Medieval Ascendant · published 35 days ago

All eventsPlayers around this dateRead on Steam
  • The map is the game now. Instead of clicking through menu screens, you live on the province map in full view. The realm map is the zoomed-out overview; everything else opens as an overlay on top.

  • A unified visual language. All windows, panels, and popups now follow the same style. Consistent frames, consistent calm. Popups anchor to the clicked object and can be freely dragged.

  • Always have a look at the world. Province borders follow roads and mountain ridges instead of rigid grid lines, neighboring crests color the borders, cities sit properly in their terrain. Season changes now glide smoothly across the map.

  • Quests & concerns sit as a card stack in the top-right Corner instead in the different screens.

  • Smarter settlement building: Towns now build based on observed demand, plan multi-step production chains, and factor in available workforce.

  • Trade log finally shows imports and exports separately.

  • Added a lot of tutorials.

  • Reworked Fights - Each fight is now capped to a total of three Waves, with wave 3 being a boss. You can pull back between each wave. Keep in mind that your Character can die. Also added a counter to show your personal impact on the war

  • Introducing the Skelger: People that live on the islands nearby Aldred. They will try to raid the provinces of aldred. Enlist yourself and defend the realm!

Balancing

Economy & supply chains:

  • Iron ore finally reaches Meadowdale; smithies are distributed across the map, traders route by profit margin

  • Workshops settle based on local demand instead of global flat rates

  • Raw materials stay in the local production chain instead of draining away immediately

  • Starting inventories, purchase prices, construction times, and building materials comprehensively retuned

  • Expanded seasonal price windows for trader rotation

Crafting:

  • Routine crafting caps at "good" quality - masterpieces & legendarys need your personal touch

  • Auto-crafting also available in the tutorial forge

Population:

  • No more decline purely from unemployment

  • Upward and downward mobility no longer oscillates

  • Fundamentally reworked household budgets

Military service: Clear warning in the recruitment modal that death is permanent.

Bugfixes

Audio:

  • Music sometimes stayed completely silent

  • Combat audio ignored volume settings

Dead buttons & dead ends:

  • "Marry off child" did nothing

  • Brawl popup couldn't be closed with Esc

  • "Force sale" targeted the wrong building

  • Fallow field selection chose the wrong plot. Leaving a single field fallow now works

  • Grapes were offered as seed stock

  • Self-forged nails count as building material

Presentation:

  • Action points shown directly on the button instead

  • All fonts now follow the text size slider

  • Vignette toned down, redundant headers removed

  • Missing text strings added across multiple languages
