FOUR STATUSES

Every status this game has added since launch arrived locked behind a pack. GODS, The Crossing, The Ancients — each brought new words, and each kept them on its own shelf. The fifteen heroes you started with have not learned one since Blind. Four arrive now, one for each corner of the board, with 310 cards to play them.Behind them: an arena that finally moves, an idle battle screen that stopped burning a fifth of your CPU on nothing, and three expansions that at last say out loud what they grew into.Everything in this post is free. Nothing below is a second purchase.

🌀 Four New Words

One per quadrant of the status board — two you carry, two the enemy does. Each was chosen by subtraction: nothing on the board did this yet.

  • 🌀 Momentum — yours. Every hit you land deals +1 for each card you played earlier this turn, to a ceiling of +5. Play the cheap cards first and close with the heavy one; the order of your hand is finally worth a number.

  • 🛡️ Sunder — yours, and it hurts. Every Shield and Protection you gain is halved. Nothing has ever cut a guard before, and the biggest swings in this batch print it as their own price: hit like that and the next two Defends are worth half.

  • 🪨 Adamant — theirs. No single hit you land may exceed 8. A 24-damage legendary lands 8. Three hits of 7 land 21. Chain walks past it, rot ignores it entirely — it is a wall that asks what kind of deck you built.

  • 🦠 Fester — theirs, from you. Burn, Bleed and Poison tick 25% harder per stack, up to double. The rot decks get a second axis that is not "more stacks", and everyone gets a printed answer to Adamant.

🃏 310 Cards, and Six Foes to Spend Them On

  • A shared shelf of 160 — 20 in each of the eight elements, five per status, offered to every one of the fifteen base and fusion heroes.

  • Ten exclusives each, 150 in all — every hero gets their own answer to all four, in their own colours. Nightblade's never heal. Paladin's heal by striking. Runecaster's span all eight elements, because his pool does.

  • Six new hosts on base ground — the Iron Sentinel and the Glacier Sentinel harden mid-fight, Vantis the Mirror Tyrant walls up on every Rage turn; the Hex Weaver, the Bloodmoon Reaver and Quillen the Hand-Reaper cut your guard in half and keep it there.

  • Every pack meets them too. The cards are base and fusion, but Adamant and Sunder are bestiary — a Scorching, Overflow, Day & Night or GODS run still crosses base ground, and the wall is standing on it.

🎬 The Living Screen

The battlefield was a photograph: one flat plate per region, the hero the only thing on it that moved. It is a surface now, and it reads your run.

  • It knows how you are doing. The plate desaturates and the vignette closes as your HP falls, heat haze rises with your Heat bar, and a heavy blow splits the colour for a frame.

  • Weather on all 21 grounds — embers, snow, spores, sand, drifting motes, rising bubbles and dust, each ground with its own, plus caustics and a key light sitting where the region's light should come from.

  • Bodies dissolve instead of blinking out, cards fan and tilt in your hand, the camera takes the punch when you land one, and the turn announces itself.

  • Yours to turn down. Display → Battle effects: automatic, off, low or high. Automatic measures the machine and picks; reduced motion freezes the plate rather than removing it.

⚡ And It Runs Better While Doing It

  • An idle battle screen used to keep 22% of the main thread busy with nothing happening. Twenty always-on animations were repainting the whole frame just to pulse; they animate the cheap way now, and paint work fell from 25 ms per second to 0.1.

  • The music cache stopped growing into hundreds of megabytes of decoded audio over a long session, and every data file the game loads now parses the fast way.

🔥 The Scorching Region — Reforged

The pack you bought in June is not the pack on your drive. It launched with 36 cards, six relics, ten foes and no hero of its own. It is now three heroes — Forgeheart Ordal on Heat, Cinderbinder Vess on Scorch, Glasswright Sera on Glass — with 139 cards in three elements of its own, 19 relics and 37 foes across Ember Reach, the Glass Flats and the Dune Sea. Not one update said so. This one does, with a patch on top:

  • Coolant, a potion for the three, in every shop: −3 Heat at the start of each turn of the next fight.

  • Three foes that want you to play your kit — the Kiln-scoured Ox takes half again as much while your Heat is high, the Furnace Scab takes every Scorch tick twice, the Vitrified Sentry takes every pane you set doubled.

  • Ember Reach is fair to Ordal — nothing cuts a Heat cap below 5, and the Bellows Gate and the Forge Mouth now do what their badge says. Prism Loom keeps paying after Sera's mastery lifts her Cracked Mirror.

  • Six achievements, and a store page that finally quotes the game.

🌊 Overflow and 🌗 Day & Night — Reforged

The same confession, twice more. Overflow launched at 35 cards, six relics, nine foes; Day & Night at 50, four and seven. They are 110 / 18 / 37 and 114 / 15 / 37 now, five heroes between them — Maris, Tephra, Yara, Sol, Vesper — on six countries of their own, and Sol's and Vesper's cards have been Dawn and Dusk since the Crossing. In this patch:

  • Two potions — Brine Draught puts 6 into both reservoirs at the next fight's start, Twilight Oil 4 into both bars.

  • Six more foes that reward your mechanic — the Brackish Ox takes a Flood doubled, the Pumice Crawler every Burn tick twice, the Scaldfly half again as much under Steam or Obsidian; the Umbral Ox a Daybreak doubled, the Meridian Husk every Nightfall strike twice, the Half-Light Vagrant half again as much while your bars are balanced.

  • Mastery keeps its relic and its seed — Leviathan Scale still pays after Maris's Sunless Depths lifts, and the Day and Night modes still seed Sol's and Vesper's bars after their locks come off. Both quietly went to zero at the deepest gate before.

  • Eleven achievements, and every Pro line naming the element it actually scales.

📦 Free, All of It

The four statuses, the 310 cards, the six hosts, the living battlefield and the performance pass are base game — no expansion required. The three reforge blocks are free to anyone who already owns The Scorching Region, Overflow or Day & Night; nothing here is a second purchase. All four expansions — those three and GODS — run alongside each other in the same game. Localized in English, Korean, Japanese, Chinese, French, German and Russian. The heroes who started this kingdom learned four new words. The ground they stand on learned to move.
