Brimir Update (v1385)
🫀 The Pericardium Opens — Beyond the Heart's Mouth
The Ice Tomb and the Sword Grave — the two branches meet here.
The Pericardium is unlike any floor before it. It is not land but a sea of fluid,
and that sea runs on the Heart's beat, in two measures.
- Diastole — the water draws back. Sail, and cross between the islands.
- Systole — the Heart clenches. The current turns violent, healing is sealed, your sight narrows, and every monster strikes first. And if you are on the water, your hull is being cut away.
It does not block you. It prices you. Missing the diastole window never closes the road —
you simply choose, every time, whether to ride out the systole ashore or
push through the current and pay for it in hull.
"When do I go" is this floor's game.
At the center, the Valve runs fast at all times. Wait for a fair wind, climb it with a better ship,
or fire the soulstone thrusters — there is more than one way through.
⛩️ The Door to the Pericardium
You cannot simply walk in. An offering altar now stands at the end of each branch.
- The Rimestone Altar (Ice Tomb) — offer soulstones gathered across the three Icerock regions, and the Beast of Cold wakes.
- The Sword Grave Offering Stone (Megalith Ruins) — offer soulstones from those buried in the Sword Grave, and the Undying Ghoul rises.
Open it once and it stays open forever. The door does not close when you fall.
Either branch costs the same — but the road there has a different character.
🆕 New Content
- 67 dwellers of the Pericardium — drowned sailors, things born of clotted blood, things charred in ash, things crawling with current, and things that leak light. Nine regions, each wearing a different face.
- What the tide brings in — they climb ashore during the systole and withdraw when the diastole comes. Some faces appear only on the incoming tide and never in the standing spawn.
- 63 Pericardium runes — eight Grade 3, twenty-two Grade 4, thirty-three Grade 5.
- 27 guild and temple contracts — ten region sweeps, seven hunts, eight rune deliveries, and two temple purges.
- The Heartlight Flagship (T4) — built from materials found only in the Pericardium. It climbs the Valve's current without a fair wind.
- Three dedicated tracks — sailing, battle, and the Valve.
⚖️ Balance
- The two gate bosses hit heavier — they hold the door to the Pericardium, so they now sit at the same weight as this game's other gate bosses.
- Return from the Pericardium counts double — Pilgrim's Trace and companion affinity come in at twice the rate of other floors. That is what the deepest place pays.
- Monsters use their own signature moves — 34 signature skills that existed in name only are now wired in. Floor 8's Grade 4 monsters chain two beats: knock you off balance, then drop a field exactly where you land.
- Slow-approaching monsters: 15 → 8 — Pericardium monsters closed distance far too sluggishly.
- Floor 3 offerings: seven lines → five — brought in line with Floor 1 (four shared, one exclusive).
🔧 Bug Fixes
- Temple purge contracts reverted on reconnect — refreshing the contract board did not survive a restart. It sticks now.
- Rune absorb button appeared on summons — summons cannot wear runes, but the button was showing.
- Rune research "burst threshold" — no such mechanic existed, yet it was written that way. It now states what it actually does (lowers an element's tier threshold) and which element.
- The Frozen Vein claimed "healing taken −40%" — healing was in fact untouched. It was a penalty that did not exist. The label now matches reality.
- "Accelerated health drain" was condition, not health — the zone-effect label read as HP. Corrected to "Accelerated condition drain" in the Ice Tomb, the Canyon of Flame, and elsewhere.
- Companions moved during boss entrance cutscenes — the party now holds with the cut, and the cut can be skipped.
- Conversion runes did not show how much they move — they now display the current transferred value and the headroom left before the cap.
- "Who is wearing this rune" — now visible directly in the bestiary's monster list.
The pilgrimage to the Heart continues.
